We are going 4/4-4/8 and got a rate of $37/nt at days inn old town. How is this place? It looks decent on the website all we need is a clean room and decent bed. We spend very little time in the room so I thought this was not too bad. :confused3

We stayed here last year. It was okay. The outside foyers look really bad but the room wasn't awful. Nice to have seperate bedroom and a kitchenette. Gave the kids a little more room to move about without bumping into the beds. Had a murphy bed that pulls down from the wall that 6 yo ds loved. We spend very little time in the room as well, and felt we got a good deal for the $$. Hard for me to justify spending $100+ for a room per night, I'm the coupon/clearance queen. It's your average hotel room with more space and a few extra perks. :confused3

Thanks for the reply. It is tough for me to spend $100+ on a room also. This will be a quick vacation so not spending alot of $$ on a room is what we need.I found some decent reviews on tripadvisor jus thought I would get some more input.

We've stayed there a couple of times. It's not so bad. We like having the extra space. :)

I drove around this property in late Jan. 05 to check it out. Let me first start by saying I am a Holiday Inn (budget/moderate) type of guest and a social worker in an low income urban setting. I am used to "not so nice" surroundings as I work in them. I do not consider myself a hotel deluxe person and I am a coupon queen myself. There is NO WAY I would stay in this hotel. It looked seedy and frankly, outside areas looked unsafe. I would not feel safe with my children in this hotel. Those that have been there can "flame me" but I have done social work for 21 years and really trust my gut instincts. I did not see the inside of the rooms but the outside was enough for me. My mother(who lives in a small town) locked her door of the car. I know this is a strong negative review but that is how I honestly felt driving around the parking lot of this place. I have been a member of these boards for a long time, visit Orlando 2X per year and this is the WORST place I have ever considered staying at.

Not flaming jultomzach...IMHO, the entire Old Town area is pretty seedy looking, but OK. We stayed at Comfort Suites out behind Old Town several years ago, went to Old Town one day. Seedy is kind, we'd never go there again. However, many folks think it is a fun thing to do. I think this hotel is probably OK...and I do mean just OK...from what I've read. The whole Old Town thing is beyond me, partly because it looks so run down, but I don't think it's any more dangerous than any of the areas along East Irlo Bronson, and we certainly felt fine about CS-MgE, which is literally right behind Old Town...and I've heard good things about Tropical Palms also, which is in the same location.

For those who've stayed in this hotel, how's the smell..is it musty at all?

Thanks for the response and I should have been clearer about why I felt unsafe. It was more than the physical looks of the place. Many parking areas were isolated, especially in the back of the area. The rooms opened to the street, and sometimes the parking lot itself. I did not feel a presence of security and this is a large property. When I drove around in Jan. 05, the hotel parking lot (at 8am and then again at 7 pm to show my sister) had less than a 20% occupancy and some lots were completely empty. We considered this place because my sister teaches exercise classes and one of "students" is related to the manager. She had called him and he said he needed a commitment in 24 hours as the "place was booked". Since we go twice a year and I love go "cheap", we decided to check the place out. This did not give me a "trust" feeling about the management.

Opps forgot to mention that I usually stay off property. I have stayed off Route 192 many times and there are lots of great hotels in that area. I don't mind that area....it is that particular property.

I have a friend from VA who lived in Kissimmee several years ago with her husband. In 2003, my in-laws decided they wanted to go to FL with us, but were on a major budget, so I found this motel online and thought that the pics look decent, too. I had told my friend (in Kissimmee) that we were staying at this particular motel, and she hesitated. I inquired further, and she said it was "ok". When we arrived, I was completely in shock at how the pics online looked NOTHING like the actual motel. The entire complex looked deserted. They assigned us a room in the very back of the complex, and there were no cars in our section of the parking lot. We passed one of the pools on our way to the room, and there was no one in it. Nothing about this motel looked inviting. After much persuasion, my husband talked me into just looking at one of the rooms. First, the enitre door framing looked as if someone had tried to break into the room with a crowbar. The room was VERY small. The ceiling was so low, that we both could touch our palms to it. The lights in the bedroom did not work, and there were missing ceiling tiles in the kitchen area. The bathroom was horrible, with a broken toilet seat. The carpet in the bedroom are was severely stained. The entire room had the most horrible smell of mildew! To Needless to say, I would not even consider staying in there for even one night, and made my husband get our money back, which they gave to us without question. We ran straight to WDW, and were thankful that one of the resorts were able to take us for a week. Later on, we met up with our friends in Kissimmee, and when I asked why she did not tell me about the shape of the motel. She was concerned that it would offend us (since she had not seen me in 10 years). She told us that the entire "Old Town" area was really "sketchy", especially after dark. After living in Kissimmee long enough for their lease to expire, she and her husband moved to Altamonte Springs. She told us that there have even been shootings and gang activity in the Old Town complex, which is right next door. I would strongly suggest that you choose another place. I realize that not every hotel/motel is going to be as nice as a Disney Resort, but this motel is a safety issue! As a child, my parents often stayed off-property, and we have NEVER encountered what I saw at the Old Town Days Inn!! There are many nice hotels in that area, compared to this. I have also noticed that many of those hotels offer similar rates due to the number of hotels in that close area and competition.

With all the hotels in the area "ok" isnt good enough for me to stay somewhere..

Try Priceline or Hotwire for a good deal and a better place to stay

well we stayed at the days inn suites, not a good experience, bugs all in the kitchen ants, the rooms were very roomy though,

I've stayed in the Days Inn/Days Suites near Old Town (mostly the suites) maybe 6 times over the last 29 years. Sure, it's not a luxury resort, but I never encounted the problems that some of these posters have. We did have some problems but mostly with the front desk lines, room keys, bad location (noise from Old Town). Being next to Old Town did not bother me, in fact it was kind of fun to walk around there in the evening. Things may have gotten worse since 1998 which was the last time I stayed there. My brother stayed there 4 years ago and didn't have a problem with it. Maybe we just have lower standards.
I would stay there again if necessary and the price were right. But since I have discovered rental condo's that are even cheaper than Days Suites, I may never stay at a motel again.
