Players: Ike (DH) 41 - 2nd trip to World
Stinkerbelle 5 (DD) - 2nd trip to World
Me - 39 - 2nd trip to World - 4 trips to Disneyland
March 5 - Day 5 - Today we had reservations at Chef Mickey's for 9:00 a.m. - word to the wise. Always leave early! We somehow missed the correct exit and ended up having to turn around and barely made it at 9:00. We arrived and they said to wait for a few minutes but I'm sure it wasn't even 5 minutes before they had us at the picture with the plate.
Food was hot and great. The characters were busy but came around at least twice while we were there. Minnie, Mickey, Chip, Dale, Pluto and Goofy were there. Goofy stays out in the lobby. My DD ate a couple bites of fruit and one bite of her donut. Kids are just too busy getting autographs and pictures. The characters were pretty rushed compared to last time, but it was adequate and so busy that they really did a good job visiting every table.
My DH and I liked the breakfast better than the dinner. The waitress actually came back to refill beverages but she was extremely slow with the check. I'm sure they try to time it so that we have the opportunity to buy the picture before they send us off.
Afterwards we took the monorail and stopped to visit the Polynesian and Grand Floridian hotels. Both very beautiful hotels.
Back to HIFS and the pool for the rest of the afternoon - sunny, hot, humid and upper 80's. Can't get any better than that!
March 6 - day 6 - We slept in late and headed for Plant City for the Strawberry Festival. Plant City is about 40 miles from Orlando. Seemed like a great idea at the time, however, little did we know that day was Senior Citizen day. Doesn't sound so bad till you start to comprehend that EVERYONE in Florida is either a tourist or a senior citizen. (Slight exaggeration but not really.) Yikes. I figured we would see strawberry stands in every corner. Nope. One small, hot building had a strawberry shortcake stand with a zillion seniors cutting in line. It was so bad that I actually left the very long line and skipped having any strawberries! Talk about some rude people.
DD had a pony ride, went to the petting zoo and rode a couple rides with DH and that was it. Back to HIFS and the pool!
