We drove this trip, which actually worked out well, b/c my 2 kids watched the portable tv/vcr a lot, so they were not bored. We got to the Polynesian around noon on Sunday November 3rd...we checked in, but our room was not ready, so we headed to MK...
First, let me say the Poly is absolutely gorgeous!!! The water, and the foliage, and the flowers! And that smell!! I'd always heard about the 'Poly smell," and didn't know what that was all about. But now I know, and it's a GOOD smell! Like you're in the tropics!! And there are other smells too! A sweet smell, like Mickey waffles, or pineapple bread, or something...you can smell it ALL THE WAY OUT IN THE PARKING LOT! It was heavenly.
At MK, we headed straight to the Carousel, which is always a good place for us to start! My DD7 and DS2 loved loved loved it! DS2 was saying "Wheeee!" the whole time! After that, we did "It's a Small World" and the kids were mesmerized as always. My DD7 was so anxious to do Haunted Mansion, b/c the last time she did, she was scared! She realized this time that it was all pretend, and she was determined to 'laugh' at it! My DH had never seen it at all, so we did that next. DH was very impressed at the special effects, and DD7 DID laugh! It was fun...DS2 wasn't scared at all. Then we rode Aladdin's Magic Carpets which we all loved...and I could not leave Adventureland without my Dole Whip, which no one else in my family appreciated, but I loved the heck out of it!
We left MK a tad early, we were getting tired and wanted to check out our room! Our room was ready by this time (around 5:30). It was soooo nice! The room was huge, with a big bathroom too! I loved all the bamboo, it gave it such a tropical feel! There was a huge piece of chocolate in the room, with a picture of the Polynesian in it, like the chocolate was a sort of frame! It had a lovely card with it from the staff, wishing us a good trip. So nice! We checked out the concierge lounge this evening, and they had cut up veggies and dip, chips, drinks of all kinds, cookies, etc. We snacked around and got to watch the MK firworks from the lounge...it was so nice to watch the fireworks from the quiet and calm of the hotel...no loud noises and no fighting the crowds of people after it's over with. We loved it!! The lounge had a very nice TV in it and plenty of seating so all the children were entertained. My DS2 seemed like he always ended up in the same little chair with the little ottoman over the next 3 days...it was very cute and we got a picture of him "lounging" that is just adorable.
