Day 7 - Rest day: shopping and swimming...but not at the same time!

Cast:

Me - mother and dutiful wife…and biggest kid of them all!! 34
DH – Affectionately known as Squirrel…ageing punk rocker and tattoos to boot…40
DD – our princess Millie…..6, and turns 7 in WDW!

Hmm – another “rest day” – the first rest day we had turned into a very tiring day! Lesson Learnt??

Now today we had originally planned to be in Epcot and on reflection this would have been madness as it would have been our 3rd full day in the parks….so the reason for this change was not because of the 3 day in a row thing but the fact that today was forecast to be in the low 80s and I would rather have time around the pool!

Right, so the plan for today was to hit premium outlets in the morning and then have a nice relaxing afternoon by the pool…….

I knew that going to Premium Outlets would be somewhat torture as we had come to this trip on a pretty megre budget which av. at $240 per day….but with a wee bit of shrewd spending so far we had been able to bank an extra $120  It was to be Millie’s birthday in 2 days time and although we have brought cards from home (nanny et al) and have Cinderella’s brekkie to look forward too I wanted to get some birthday banners etc. to put in her room!

Anyway…on with the day!

I woke up – early (as usual!) and waited for Hubby & Millie to rise from their deep slumber – we had had some pretty tiring days so far so no alarms had been set. We were all finally up, dressed and ready to go by 10am. Before we left though, Millie did her now customary “making the bed like the lady does” and DH had a great idea…..! As you may recall, Mousekeeping had set up her cuddlies on her bed, each with a pen and piece of paper….so Millie & DH spent 10 mins or so doing a picture on each piece of paper and left the cuddlies in the same position that mousekeeping had the day before!!

We then sauntered over to the main lobby and grabbed a cab to Premium outlets …..hubby had proven to be very keen eyed as he hac spotted “Hooters” on the other side of the road as we approached the mall! He was so keen to go here, lol, and was gutted to find out that there was no way of just “crossing” the road to get there for dinner. He did say about getting a cab there…..I think he was serious! It is at this point he says that we will be hiring a car on our next holiday here!!! Men!

We were all pleased to see that Premium Outlets actually isn’t that big. So we walked around the mall a couple of times (like you do) and ended up buying the things we saw originally! I came back with trousers & 2 tops from Banana Republic. 4 pairs of Skechers for $130 – 2 for me and 2 for Millie. DH bought a pair of Reeboks for $40 – maybe you will spot the new trainers in the pics in the next few days!! OH – and I had a few of those “I MUST have that” moments….quickly followed by a pouty(sp) face as the price was still a bit steep on our puny budget….O the handbags!!!!!! But I did have a real “I MUST have that” moment….an $8 must have moment…..nope, not clothing, handbags, shoes….anything like that but a Pooky teddy bear!!! I have been after a Pooky bear for ages….and there he was sat there, just waiting to come home with me (he is now safe at home here sat next to my monitor)! Millie bought herself a puppet doll (which looks hideous!) from a stall.

We grabbed a quick bite in the foodcourts and whilst Millie and DH finished I nipped off to see if there was anywhere I could buy birthday banners etc……nope. Nowhere in Premium Outlets and I had not found anything at DTD previously either  Oh well, we then went back into the Timberland shop which was so cheap! Hubby was gutted that they did not have the boots he wanted in his size….there was a really nice pair for me ($49) but they were so similar to my CAT boots that I’d be buying just for buying sake…..and I left them (wish I had bought them now!!)….so we called it a day and got a cab back.

By now it had become custom for Millie to run ahead and unlock the door…mainly so she could see what Mousekeeping had done (especially after what we had done this morning) and plus she was dying for a swim.

Mousekeeping surprise:

How cute is that?

Mille had also changed so quick she had her cossie on by the time we had got back to the room. DH & I quickly followed and headed over to the main pool on the island…it was so hot and sunny and the pool was quite busy! We all had a swim about and Millie went on the slide a few times when she then said that she would prefer to go in our “own pool in our garden”??!!!! EH?? I was confused…..she then explained further and it was then I reaslised she meant the quiet pool behind our building!! S’fine by me! DH agreed too so we hopped out and headed over to the quiet pool and boy was it quiet!! There was only one other family there – it was lovely  We had a really relaxed time and just chilled. Millie was happy as larry.

I left DH there and went back to the room to gather some laundry (!!) as this was right by the pool and brought over a couple of cans of bud(that we had in the fridge) and some water for Millie. So, laundry done whilst still having quiet time by the pool.

Finally got Millie out of the pool at about 7pm….quick shower and changed and headed over to the foodcourt for some dinner….had a nice leisurely drink in the bar after and we were back in the room by 9pm….Millie & I had a good look at the map of Epcot and talked about what to do etc. she is really looking forward to going to all the countries :)...and she did ask if she would ever get to see any of the princesses.....

Tomorrow: Epcot

What a nice day you had!

Oh no, not another Hooters fan :teeth:

Oh Pooky, you just don't understand tha agony that we men suffer from! Everyday I drove up and down the I4 within yards of the Hooters institution your husband saw. Like him, my dear wife Ruth banned me from attending this paragon of virtue; there is nothing to fear, from the reports I've heard it's just a food serving bar. Nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe we should plan our next trips in tandem so your husband and I can take part in a Hooters session. We'd be good boys, honest! ;)

Glad to hear you had a good shopping day. We love Premium Outlets, it's a great place to shop and its nice to be outside.

Great day, I love the Premium Outlets, it is my fav place to shop, have always managed to bag a few bargains from there.

Looking forward to your day in Epcot my fav park.

Tell me more what is Hooters ?
Can you tell I'm a Florida virgin :)

Cyrano...Hooters...? Hmmm, now how can I explain this.

Its a diner
Its full of "waistresses" in, urm, low cut skimmy tops and very short shorts!....and they are quite womanly!!

LOL

That being said, it's not like a lap daning place, it's supposed to be OK!...they do have a website and sell merchandise...even kiddies clothes with "Hooters" on them?!

Andru - huuby had taken up the offer

Ah hah should have guessed from the name :cheer2: :cheer2:
Don't think i'll be allowed to included that as a PS :rotfl:

Woohoo! Hooters!

Don't believe all you hear.
Hooters is a highly sophisticated establishment dedicated to providing a fine dining experience for the more discerning gentleman who appreciates vintage beverages.

Yep, it's beer, wings and scantily clad women. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Did I mention the sport on all the large screen TV's?

Sigh, all my dreams come true in one place. :cool1:

Another wonderful day :cool1: I love Premium Outlets too - I don't normally find much though coz I'm *ahem* a larger lady :rolleyes1 I get so jealous of hubby's bargains for Nike!

Kev, I think you need a shower to cool off after all this Hooters talk ;)

Anz :earsgirl:

Pooky where are you ?????

Your trip reports are great, but I'm dying to hear all about the Disney Cruise, hope to hear from you soon

:teacher:

I feel that I must provide a "clarification" about Hooters....the restaurant is quite adamant that their name is based on owls and not the scantily clad waitresses who are all quite well endowed.........yeah, right.

Count me as another vote for "what is it about men and Hooters"!!

I found Premium Outlets quite the best, but was disappointed the Timberland shop was so small. Most of the other outlets were disappointing (although my DH stocked up on CK undies at Belz, and I did get a jacket and a couple of other bargains). We found Festival Mall (or whatever its called) quite nice to visit - the cowboy shop is an eye-opener - but mostly empty. In fact there were a lot of empty shops everywhere.

Still found enough to fill an extra suitcase (despite throwing away old trainers at the end of the holiday)

Pooky - where are you! Waiting with baited breath to read about the cruise!! :grouphug:

Thanks enjoyed your report. Premium Outlets was not open when we last visited Orlando. Is it definitely worth a visit? We usually just go to Belz.

We got most of our stuff at Premium Outlets. You can register as a VIP visitor online before you go and download extra discount vouchers including one to get a VIP money off leaflet (usually $5). The Timberland shop was a bit small but other than that there is a good range of shops, and its more compact then Belz - no need to keep moving your car :moped:
