Your Cast of Characters:
Me, 44 year old mother & grandmother: Planner & financier of this trip who ate PB&J & bologna sandwiches and did rewards programs for ten months saving for the trip.
DD, Jess, 28: Poster child for premenstral syndrome and offical spoiler of trip. Seriously, she gets pms BAD & won't take medicine.
DGD, Skye, 7 turning 8 on 11/15: The most well behaved, sweetest granddaughter any grandmother could ask for. Loves rollercoasters.
Tuesday October 29th:
Tired of the heatlamp scorched breakfast sandwiches & high dollar donuts at Mara, we ended up getting a box of donuts at Mara. We were shocked at the price...only $3.68 and we ate them for 2 days! I wish Jiko would serve a regular cooked to order breakfast, because there was only Mara which wasn't too good & Boma which we felt was too expensive for buffet breakfast and not all that great either. Oh, well.
Today was MGM day and the only day I had scheduled for MGM. It was the only "Magic Morning" day we'd participate in. We arrived before opening then headed straight to RnR. This was our first time with RnR & ToT and I was nervous. Jess & Skye kept looking back at me...expecting me to chicken out. If there had been a line to wait in for any length of time I may have backed out, but with my heart pounding, we walked right on. I was expecting not to be able to breath during the take off and all kinds of horrors, but I was fine. I did know when we went upside down though. I came off thinking, what's the big deal.
After that we went to ToT. Our first time here too. I thought the ride leading up to the drops was fantastic, but I was expecting it to be longer. I loved this one though....much, much fun. The girls wanted to ride RnR again and I had to potty, so they went and I didn't. After that we did GMR and had a bit of a wait in line here from all the people just coming in at the regular time...I should've saved it for later. We did Star Tours, Muffets,..well, almost everything ride wise before lunch. We stopped for lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet and it was good.
At lunch I told the girls that we had a PS at 50's Prime Time at 5pm and Fantasmic show tonight and that I wanted to tour on through and see the shows I'd never seen instead of going back to the resort for a break. I told them that they were welcome to go back and meet me later. I expected Jess at least to have to go get her required three hours of sun/pool time, but she said she'd stay too. After lunch, we had a potty break. From a stall two doors down I hear Jessica "I've got flow!" Usually, when the damn breaks, her PMS goes away....I was hoping so because I was tired of walking on eggshells around her.
We did the Indiana Jones show, Little Mermaids, and was on our way to see Beauty & The Beast when we came upon this CM playing the part of...I dunno, an actor or something. He was a hottie for sure in a hot pink suit and federo! He was riding this old timey car/carriage type thing and almost ran over us, but didn't. I said, "Hey, what's your hurry...where are you going?" He said, "Where are you going?" I told him we were going to B&B show and he said "Well, get in, I'll drive you there!" So we did, and he did! He not only drove us THERE, he drove us all the way up to the turnstiles.LOL We took pictures and he left. The CM at the turnstiles asked us what our name was and gave us a piece of paper to give to the CM who was seating people. This CM took us to the front row, center seats! Four for a Dollar was great and we all loved B & B.
I think we did One Man's Dream after that and some other stuff I can't remember, but we saw about everything we were interested in until our 5pm PS at 50's Prime Time. Jess & I got the fried chicken & I think Skye got chicken strips. The chicken was good but we don't like crunchy green beans. Here in Kentucky we like our green beans cooked all day with a little bacon fat...I guess that's why they call this area "heart attack alley" but we don't eat crunchy green beans. To avoid getting in trouble, we hit the green beans in a napkin and Jess smuggled them out in her fanny pack. Our waitress was so proud of us for cleaning our plates. I thought at first the meal was going to be a disaster of Biblical proportions when the waitress told Jess to get her elbows off the table, but I explained the "theme" or whatever and she was happy to play along after that.
After dinner, Jess & I had words though when she wanted me to buy her a Jack & Coke to go at the bar. Now, I budgeted for a drink at dinner or whatever, but I didn't budget for "getting drunk" at MGM. When I told her that, she said "Obviously, you didn't take into account my alcohol abuse level. I said, no, I didn't, but since YOU know your alcohol abuse level, you should've saved your money to pay for it instead of spending it all on jewelry at Mexico on Sunday night then expecting your mother to support your abuse." I was a smart alleck, I know...but I'd made up my mind I wasn't taking any more crap from her. There was a heated exchange with words not allowed on the DIS...but it was quick. The girls decided to get another ride in on RnR before Fantasmic.
It was the first time we'd seen Fantasmic and we all loved it. I was boycotting the new dinner package thing and glad I did as we didn't need it. We walked in about half hour before the show and sat front row center towards the top, but not at the top. The show was awsome!
We got a quick bus to AKL and it was lights out!
