Your Cast of Characters:
Me, 44 year old mother & grandmother: Planner & financier of this trip who ate PB&J & bologna sandwiches and did rewards programs for ten months saving for the trip.
DD, Jess, 28: Poster child for premenstral syndrome and offical spoiler of trip. Seriously, she gets pms BAD & won't take medicine.
DGD, Skye, 7 turning 8 11/15: The most well behaved, sweetest granddaughter any grandmother could ask for. Loves rollercoasters.
Monday October 28th:
The girls are going to Discovery Cove today while I stay behind and do some laundry. We got up early and went to Mara for breakfast. After thier Discovery Cove day, Jim was bringing the girls to meet me at Rainforest Cafe DTD instead of back at the AKL. At breakfast Jess tells me that she was planning on staying at DTD and going to The House of Blues for that "women drink free from _ til_" thing the hairwrap CM told her about. I didn't dare say anything, but I was worried because, well, that's what mothers do. Plus, it seems that if anything bad happens at Disney, it's usually downtown. But, if I told her I didn't want her to go there would've been another fight so I kept my mouth shut.
I had booked Yourride for a towncar transport to Discovery Cove. We ate and went outside to wait for thier ride. Well, up pulls Jim again in the limo! A limo for the price of a towncar! Thanks, Rabbitz!
After I saw the girls off, I took some more money from the safe and put it on the room charge. I know, I'm glutton for punishment. But, I didn't have bad charging karma for the rest of the trip!
Afterwards, I took our laundry down to the 2nd floor and did a load of whites and a load of colors. I shared some pixie dust in the laundry room with some people by letting them use my detergent and dryer sheets so they wouldn't have to buy any. There was a little porch with rocking chairs on the second floor by the laundry so I sat there and watched the animals while the laundry was going. For some reason, I had it in my head that the laundry was near the pool, but it wasn't. No biggie. I don't know if it was against the rules, (didn't see a sign) but I used the laundry's rolling basket thingy to get the clean clothes back up to the room, then took the basket back to the laundry.
Once back in the room I had planned on taking a nap, but got to watching the animals in the savanna with the binocculars I brought instead. The little gazzels? were so cute to watch as they chased each other around the trees....they'd leap & kick thier heels up so high I thought they might flip over. Cute.
(I know I'm boring you!LOL)
It wasn't long before it was time to shower and get ready to go downtown to meet the girls. I was anxious to hear how thier day went. I hopped a bus then sat outside RFC watching the parrotts carry on. They were pretty funny...one was meaner than a junk yard dog. It wasn't long before the girls came. All smiles.
Needless to say they loved it. It ended up being the highlight of thier trip. I'd given Jess $100 for pictures and the video and she ended up spending some of her own money for Tshirts and Skye a big stuffed dolphin that she named Tyler after the dolphin they swam with. Over dinner they showed me the pictures and told me all about it. They were a little dissapointed in the aviary because they thought there were going to be more birds, but it was still very cool. Jess was laughing about Skye getting scarred of the barracudas even though they were behind glass. She said they were swimming underwater side by side until they saw the barracudas...before Jess knew it Skye was up top and kicking as fast as she could in the other direction. Jess said it was kinda scary. Skye said an eel was starring at her.LOL
Dinner was pretty good. We got some fried cheese free with our Orlando Magic card. I ordered the king crablegs and Jess ordered steak, Skye got a hot dog & mac/cheese. The meats were all good but the sides were nasty. The whole thing ended up costing me $8 since I had $75 in RFC giftcertificate from doing rewards programs.
Jess said she was too tired to stay downtown and do The House of Blues. I was glad. We looked around downtown and got a few pins at the pin store. I forgot to mention before that Skye has become a big time pin trader/collector this trip.
We left and was back at the lodge by 8 o'clock. We all went to bed early. Skye slept with Tyler the stuffed dolphin.
