Discovering Disney Studios!
Day 3 dawned a little later for DW and I as I was told my name would change to M-U-D if I woke her again before the rooster crows on our vacation. After trekking all over Epcot on Day 2, my feet also warned me about getting up too early!
We ate breakfast in the concierge lounge and then headed to the marina to ride to the Studios. (My feet and my DW were not in the mood for a hike there!) The boat was just docking as we walked onto the marina, so the timing was perfect. A short ride to Swan/Dolphin and off to the Studios.
We arrived before opening, but were fairly close to the gates. When the "rope" dropped, we headed for ToT, even though my DW nearly refused. Well, she did it one time and I think that was it for this lifetime. Actually, I think she aged 3 years on the first drop and upon realizing we were going to drop again, she aged another 5!
Oh well, I guess a diet of only spinach and broccoli won't kill me!?!
Being an avid shopper, my DW wanted to hit the stores -- before all the "good stuff" got purchased (??). Realizing that I needed to make up for ToT, I meekly followed -- quietly.
We didn't spend (ahem, WASTE) a lot of time shopping, and soon we were back on track for the good stuff.
We wanted to see all the shows and of course the closing of Hunchback made that a little easier to do -- but not much fun. Fortunately, we saw it in May, but still seeing that area closed and empty was more than a little sad.
Outside MuppetVision 3D, we did another Disney tradition -- temporary tattoos of our favorite characters. DW got Eeyore and I got Tigger. The same CM that was there in May did the art work. I think she did a better job on mine, 'cause it's still in tact -- almost a week later. DW's is gone.
We had an early lunch PS for 50's PTC -- we were glad we did that. By noon it was packed with 40 - 50 min. waits minimum for those without a PS. And this was in VALUE season!
Robert, our server, helped us use our wishes. We had the fried cheese and chicken noodle soup to start. The cheese was quite good, but the raspberry sauce was a little odd (to me). I loved the chicken noodle soup -- large noodles, lots of chicken and loads of veggies. Good to the last drop.
Entrees were pot roast for DW and meatloaf for me. The pot roast was tender enough to cut with a fork. The meatloaf was just like Mom's. Dessert included sundaes with enough whipped cream to cause a weight gain of 5 lbs. minimum! Oh well, we rolled out the door and back to the park!
BTW, Robert was great as a "cousin", but Aunt Lydia stole the stage. Her antics and banter with Robert were hilarious. I had to make sure I wasn't eating when they started in on each other, lest I spray my DW!
After lunch we visited One Man's Dream - a tribute to Walt Disney. I am so glad we saw this because we totally missed it on our trip in May. This is a MUST NOT MISS. It was so moving and so informative.
About the only show we missed was The Little Mermaid and we decided to skip Playhouse Disney. Without kids we felt a little odd.
Dinner used a couple of Discovery Magic wishes at Brown Derby. I'll post our "review" on the Restaurant Board, but I'll just say this -- we could literally have rolled to Fantasmic! I learned that if you're going to do 2 Disney meals in 1 day, you'd better skip the 3rd meal of the day -- no matter how small it is. There's just not enough room in the human body -- well, at least not in mine.
After Fantasmic, we headed for the boat and back to the BC. We sat out on the beach to try to digest some of dinner and listen to Illuminations. OK -- we were just too darned full and too darned lazy to walk all the way back to the room from the beach, so we dropped in the sand like a couple of beached whales!
Yes, we finally made it back to the room, courtesy of the BC crane service!
We arrived in our room to find another surprise from Carmen -- our Mousekeeper -- a huge towel animal Lobster on our table! We laughed for several minutes and then took pictures of it. Then we took the "duck" from Day 2 and put it with the lobster for more pictures. What a great way to end a magical day!
