I'm not usually a complainer, but geesh, this has been ridiculous.

On Tuesday, we bought annual passes in person at Downtown Disney. Our group has 2 different MDE accounts that were not previously linked. My father had an account with just him, and I had an account with my immediate family and my mother (she traveled with us in September and stayed on site with us).

We added our annual passes to our MDE accounts and linked them to our bands. Then, we tried to link our accounts. It wouldn't work, so we headed back to guest services. They got them linked and on his request moved my mother from my account to his account.

Now, only the "owner" of the MDE account would show up on the other "owner's" MDE (ie-I showed up on fathers account as a friend, but my kids did not). That wouldn't work for us, since we wanted to be able to make FP selections for the entire group. So, about 45 minutes later and several trips to the back, the CM got us linked with everyone showing up to be able to make fastpasses.

We thought we were good to go, until we entered a park that afternoon. Everyone got in but my father. We pulled out our annual passes, and the CM discovered my fathers band was now linked to my 3 year old daughters AP. We were walked to Guest Services, where we assumed they fixed that issue. We didn't use FP that day, so we didn't have any way to verify.

Yesterday, we entered MK, and both father and I could not get in. Father's issue was corrected at the gate. I'm not sure what exactly the issue was, because I was busy with my own CM. This time my AP was not showing up on my band and the gate was reading my band as a Halloween ticket from Sept. They scanned my AP card to get me in and sent me to guest services. With an assurance that it was fixed, we were sent on our way with a free fastpass in hand (very nice...we used it for 7D mine train).

Our day was good, but for our second and third FP uses, my mother's band would not scan green at the second FP scan point (although it did at the first). The CMs just let her through anyways.

This morning, we checked the website, and my mother is now back on my account listed with her AP. She was absolutly not there yesterday. She is also on my father's account, listed with a ticket number we don't have record of (possibly her ticket from sept or her Halloween ticket?). Her MagicBand is now linked to my father. It shows that he has two Magic Bands.

I'm generally a patient person, but I'm getting sour very quickly. I'm not sure WHAT has happened with our MDE accounts and MagicBands. Perhaps we are a victim of database problems, or perhaps we are victims of unknowledgable CMs changing things. I just want to have one day where we aren't starting with guest services. We've spent well over 2 hours at three different locations so far. It obviously won't be today. Maybe tomorrow?

Sounds like CMs with a lack of knowledge. I've found its never good when a cm has to go in back to get help. We had this happen with upgrading tickets in Epcot. The guy was getting the prices way wrong. After about a half hour we got that taken care of but had to add hopper to another ticket. What he quoted was way over a hundred dollars for just hopper option on one ticket. I said no thanks, went outside the park entrance to guest services and to the left. Told cm what we needed, was quoted the right price and we were done in about 4 minutes. Sorry your having so much trouble....

Sounds like MBs and MDE can handle the simple stuff (one family of four) but gets flummoxed on the more complicated parties (like you described).

I'm not sure WDW got their billion dollars' worth with this "upgrade."

I'm happy to say we did not go to guest services today!

I decided to call support myself before we left, and after about 15 minutes including wait time we had moms band linked back to her again. Everyone's Magic Bands worked today! We did a little cheer inside the gates.

My mother is now on both my account and my fathers account in MDE, with the same correct AP and MagicBand. How is she managed by two accounts? I have no idea. But it works.

Somehow my moms old tickets got transferred to my dad too. But, they are used and expired, so no big deal.

I want to say, we had zero issues in Sept when we stayed on site with linked tickets and received these bands.

I think it's best with this system to keep things as simple as possible. Hopefully, everything continues working and doesn't move around anymore.

We ran into something similar in November. I renewed all of our AP online in October except my aunt's as she renewed her own. My aunt and grandmother have the same name but different spellings. We spent four mornings in guest services as the system didn't recognize that my grandmother had an AP and her AP continuously linked to my aunt's account instead. It was crazy.

I agree, but I'm not sure how we could have made it more simple while still getting the functionality out of the system we need.

I have yet to order our "free" AP MagicBands. I'm not tempting fate with that one.
