Day 2-Magic Kingdom

Well, we wanted to get there when the park opened, really, we did. However after fighting our way up to the bacon at the hotel breakfast, we didn’t arrive at the Magic Kingdom till around 9:40.

We head towards Buzz, but notice that Cinderella’s performance has just started in front of the castle. Last time we were there, we waited on this performance. Cinderella waltzed out of the castle, started to talk but you couldn’t hear her, so she turned around and waltzed right back in the castle while some announcer-dude said that the performance was cancelled. I, for some reason, found it hysterically funny. So we were bound and determined to see this show this time.

The kid and I stood up on the ledge that surrounds the statue of Walt and Mickey. From there we had a good view of everything. The show was really good. Right in the middle of it, I hear this “thud” and turn to see the kid down on the ground. She is such a klutz! She bounced back up and kept on watching the show.

Finally, we make our way to Buzz Lightyear. We are all prepared to journey to infinity and beyond, but while we are in the line HV’s cell phone rings. Apparently Mr. Vegetable is now ready to talk to his wife. Pretty soon, HV has tears streaming down her face. She raises her voice as she talks. The next thing I know, we are up to the moving platform to get on the ride and she still has that cell phone up to her ear. I had to yell at her to hang up and get on the ride! But that was a mistake, b/c did I mention HV is 2 months pregnant and her husband didn’t want her to ride anything? So Mr. V heard me telling his wife to get on a ride and now he is not so happy with me! As soon as we get off the ride, she is right back on the cell phone arguing with him.

Then, after returning from the restroom, KP takes the phone away from HV and hangs it up. Then we put it in Aly’s backpack and try to enjoy the rest of our day. We rode Space Mountain, walked through Mickey and Minnie’s houses, met Mickey and had our photos taken with him, ran into Pluto and got his autograph, and finally it was time for lunch.

Lunch was at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends. We had an awesome time. I was so excited to meet Piglet. Don’t ask me why, but he is my favorite. KP got to slow dance with Tigger. Afterwards, she said that he reminded her of Ben Affleck. Yes, we are still scratching our heads over that one??! I just didn’t see the resemblance.

After lunch, it was time to use our Fastpasses for the Pooh ride. Now, we have just eaten lunch with Pooh, however the kid decides she is too scared to ride?! I’ll never understand kids! How can Winnie be scary? All over the world, newborn babies are being wrapped in Pooh blankets and wearing Pooh jammies. Yet Cassie kicks and screams and cries and is bound and determined to stay off the ride. So we did what any loving family would do in such a situation. We grabbed her by the arm, stuffed her fanny into the honey pot and said “you’re going to ride it and like it.” And she liked it.

That afternoon, in between restroom breaks for KP, we managed to get in the Haunted Mansion (the kid didn’t flinch on this one?!), Philharmagic (awesome, a must see for everyone), rode the Carousel, Snow White, Small World, Jungle Cruise (KP thought the corny jokes from our guide were awesome, but then again this is the same girl who said Tigger looked like Ben Affleck). We also rode Pirates (I totally forgot about that drop in the dark. That was so much fun!) and rested afterwards with a popsicle and people-watched while KP located the nearest restroom. We saw lots of people eating those turkey leg things. I know people say they are really good, but am I the only person that thinks those things are disgusting looking? It was about all we could stomach to see people chowing down on this thing the size of a St. Bernard’s leg with all the meat dangling off the bone. I’m not a picky person when it comes to food and fried chicken is one of my favorites, especially the drumsticks. However those things were just the most unappetizing things I have ever seen. Put on some animal skins and you’d be straight out of Clan of the Cave Bear.

All in all it has been a nice day despite the heat and humidity. At this point we are thinking we did ourselves a huge favor by taking away HV’s cell phone. But we were going to rue that decision later on!We decide to head on home rather than stay for the fireworks. We planned on coming back on Saturday for Spectro and figured we could catch the fireworks then. First we needed to use our FP for Pan. That ride had been mobbed all day. While waiting for the ride, KP recognizes a man that she saw yesterday at MGM. Apparently he had been staring at her then and he was staring at her now. She didn’t say anything to me about it till later, but as we went to get on the ride he turned his camera towards us and took our photo! So we had our very own stalker. Creepy! The thought of some strange man having a photo of us totally grosses me out.

We get off of Pan and the bottom falls out of the sky. We pull out the ponchos, much to the delight of the kid, and try to get out of the park without drowning. Once back at the hotel, we decide to take showers and order Chili’s from the delivery service. It took over an hour and a half for the food to get there! While we were waiting, HV gets her cell phone back and turns it on. It rings and she goes into the bedroom to talk. Not long after, she is screaming bloody murder into the phone. It was sooooo bad. Words can not describe the intensity of that conversation. I was just sure that the front desk was going to come and kick us out for disturbing the other guests. They went on and on. It was horrible. Apparently he is very mad that she turned her phone off. When she told him it was our idea, he gets mad at us. She yells and yells and yells and cries and yells.

In the middle of it all, the food arrives. This Oriental delivery man wants to come in and set the food out for us on our table. I was like “just give me the food and run for your life. Run little Asian man, RUN! Save yourself, it’s too late for us!” HV never ate her salad. She was so upset after he hung up on her that she couldn’t talk coherently, let alone eat. Then, he calls back. We were so fed up at this point that we sent her outside with the keys to the car and made her sit in it to argue with him. We went to bed.
