DSIS ThumperThistle (Tricia)
Wake up call woke us up at 7.45am, still no Mickey, Tricia thinks it might be Stitch that is leaving the message. I went down to the food court to buy breakfast and fill the mugs while Tricia was getting ready. The CM who served me said she had just been told that Epcot would be closed today. Returned to room and informed Tricia that we wouldnt be going to Epcot because it was shut, we decided to go to MGM. Just before we left the room Tricia saw on the Disney info channel that Epcot was closed due to a power outage. My reply, Youd think with the money they take in they could pay the bills on time!
When we got to the bus stop their was a CM at the Epcot bus stop informing guests that Epcot was closed and that the Magic Kingdom and MGM would have extended opening hours today. Arrived at MGM and went quickly through the security check and then met the line to get into the park! You know the sign that says Disneys MGM Studios, well it was way past that! Must have took 15 20 minutes to get in. Got a professional photo taken with Mickeys hat in the background. I pointed out a sign that said, International group play at Theatre of the Stars tonight and we decided that we would come back for that. I wonder who will be on, if its international stars we might see The Corrs, U2, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Britney Spears, Oasis, Will Young, they cover a wide range of nationalities. I will keep you posted. Went on the great Movie, had an ice cream and then decided to leave as it was so busy.
Got the bus to Fort Wilderness to have a look around then got the boat to the Contemporary for a nosy and then the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and the bus back to our resort. Had lunch at the food court and spent a couple of hours in the pool, it was very hot today. The water in the pool was warmer than the water I had in the bath last night, might consider having a bath in the pool tonight. At 5pm we watched Epcot on the local news, they are saying it is closed due to an electrical fire knocking out the power at the park and the Caribbean Beach and the Beach Club Villas. It is due to re-open tomorrow.
Returned to MGM, the concert starts at 8pm. I am very excited. Enough time for dinner so we went to the ABC Commissionary and we both had vegetable stir fry. Head to Theatre of the Stars, couldnt get in straight away as they were having a sound check. Didnt sound like Bon Jovi or U2. Right at the rope there was a group of teenage girls from New Jersey who had been waiting to get in for 3 hours. We went and stood beside them seeing as no-one else was waiting. Finally we were allowed in, the girls ran to the front row and we strolled along and joined them at the front. I decided we were too close to camcord so moved back a bit.As showtime neared closer some of their entourage joined the crowd. I think they were trying to make up the numbers because I counted 25 people. At last the clock struck 8pm and the announcer said, Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls please join Disney MGM Studios in welcoming on stage International stars PLAY WHO???????? What oh what can I say, deep down in my heart I really didnt expect Bon Jovi or U2 but PLAY! Ive never heard of them and I can only hope I never have the misfortune to hear them again. When I read International Stars Play I didnt realise Play was the group, I thought it meant International Stars would be playing. Anyway the concert There were 4 girls in the group, one of them was wearing a nice pair of jeans. They sang 4 songs, the 3 rd being excruciatingly painful on the ears. More people did join the crowd once they started but they were all wearing ponchos so I can assume they wanted to get out of the rain. It was only a short shower and had stopped when we left the concert. It was very very hot today, heat index was 102degrees in the shade.
Left MGM and went to Magic Kingdom, rode a few rides and then filmed Spectro Magic at 11pm. Lovely end to the day.
