Cast of characters: Me Denise (wdw4us), DH âÂÂMark, DD;Miranda, DS- Nicholas and MIL&FIL, Madeline & Bob.
Background. We are Disney veterans. Our in-laws are not! They were invited by my DH to WDW a year ago. Between surgery for my MIL and their general health we were not sure they would make it till recently. We fully expected my MIL to cancel but in the end she was better than my FIL in the walking dept. My FIL never told us just how bad off he was. It was impossible for him to go more than 50 ft without stopping to rest due to a leg problem. My DH was quite upset with the fact that he hid this from us. When we got there we were shocked at how many times he had to stop because of his leg. We ended up renting him an EV to get around at the MK and EPCOT.
We left on Weds the 28th at 8am. Flight to Orlando was fine. DS was meeting us there from college. He was on USAir â we SWA. DidnâÂÂt take too long to find him with the help of Berkley our driver from TTC. Got to BW in no time and checked in. We pre-purchased our Friday E-night tickets for 4 of us since we didnâÂÂt think the parents would be able to do this and we were correct. Room was not ready so we headed over to MGM for lunch. High noon at MGM is not the best idea we had. But we made the best of it got burgers and dogs near TOT and then off to the rides. First stop, the great movie ride. It was fun as usual and since MIL&FIL have never seen it, they really liked it. Next, Muppet 3D then on to Backlot studio tour. That was all they could do. They are in their late 70âÂÂs and not able to walk for a long time or a long distance. This proved to be a problem for the rest of the weekend, one that we had not anticipated. Left the kids to fend for themselves and we headed back to BW via the boat. Our room was almost as far as they could put us from the lobby. I had requested something near the elevator but I was 2 doors from the tennis courts. I was not happy but there was nothing else available. The problem with checking in mid-week. Room was spotless and the ducks and birds were our new best friends. One even came into our room for more crackers. The parents were too tired to do anything else. We got supper - pizza from the BW and then decided to go to EPCOT for the evening. They stayed in while the 4 of us were off to explore WS and stay for Illuminations.
Next day, MK and the tornado!
