I'm not much of a story teller, but I'll try and post highlights every couple days during our trip. I don't sleep much, so this gives me something to do while everyone else gets a good nights sleep.

A little about us, Me-35, DW 33, DS 8, & DD 5.

We flew out from Moline, Il this morning, connecting thru St. Louis. Flights were good, no major problems, however we were talking with the counter person at American this morning and every flight this weekend was overbooked. Picked up a Grand Cherokee from Alamo, great mousesavers.com rate, $319 including tax for 8 days.

Everything was pretty uneventful today, checked into the Poly at 3:30 got room 2024 in Tahiti. (I don't request rooms, figure they all have pros and cons and I can work with most anything) We could use to cut down a couple of trees in front of us though, they are right in the way of our view of the castle, but the beach is like 15 feet away, so we can just go down there.

Magic Kingdom was pretty crowded today. We normally come down either early Feb, or October and today was as busy as we've seen it. Waits for Space Mountain were 60 minutes, Buzz was 35 I think, we grabbed a FP for SM and rode it after dinner. Dinner was a ps at Liberty Tree Tavern, and I'm not sure if it was because that was the first thing we had in twelve hours, but the food was darn good. We all thought the meat selection was great, all of it juicy and tasty, and the charaters did a good job of getting around to all the tables. Probably has to rate as one of the better character meals we have done.

Other notes- I set up a Netzero internet account so I can check in on work daily while I'm down here. I should have used it a few times back home before I tried it down here. Had to spend 90 minutes downloading the "new" version, whatever that means, so I could check email tonight, but other than that, for 9.95 a month I can't complain. Park conditions seemed really good, we didn't notice burnt out lights or areas in disrepair like prior visits, so maybe thats a good sign.

Tomorrow is EE at MK so we are going to give that a try. Not sure what we will do in the afternoon, right now its a toss up between AK and the volcano pool.

It did seem like there was a ton of stuff going on at MK while we were there. Saw parts of two shows in front of the castle, a couple of marching bands parading down the street, and the MK Disney marching band. Normally we avoid parks in the afternoon
so we can go swimming, so this may all be normal activities, just new to us.

Any questions? I'll be glad to answer when I'm on next, most likely tomorrow night.

How are the rooms? Silly question, but here goes, since this is an older hotel (realizing renovations have taken place) is there a musty smell to any parts? Our dear son has asthma and we have yet to take a Disney trip without having an attack. Any hint of smoke or musty smell and he's under. Also I heard there might be construction going on- have you seen any? Enjoy your trip!!
We won't be going until October- hopefully it'll be slower than yours is now!

Wow I think you are the first person from the Quad Cities to see on here!! :Pinkbounc

MarkMichaels - I enjoyed the first installment of your trip report! I have 2 dd's ages 6 & 8 and we will be staying at the Poly in October so I'd love to get their perspective on the resort!! By the way, I live in Blue Grass so I guess there are more Quad Citians on these boards than we thought!!

Imhall2000- We've stayed here a couple times, in Tokelu and now Tahiti and I've never noticed that musty smell some folks complain about. There is an odor in the lobby at the Great Cerimonial House, but I think thats caused by the water/plants etc that make up the center of it. I don't think Tahiti has been renovated yet, if it has, the carpet is already stained.

Glad to see some other Iowans/Quad Citians on here! We've ran into several people from Iowa and Baltimore so far. Makes it easy to tell whos on spring break.
