Day 1 ( Aug 24, 2003)
DDs and I leave New Orleans at 8:10 am while DH leaves St Louis at 7:45 am all headed for MCO. As planned we land within 10 minutes of each other. Sid from Cartier was waiting for us as promised. After we get all of our luggage, Sid brings the van around, loads it up and we are off. After a quick stop at Publix, we headed for the Contemporary Resort. This was the first time we had stayed on site as a family (DH did once as a kid), so we were pretty excited. We checked in to the Contemporary about 12:45, but unfortunately our room was not ready yet. So we headed to the Food and Fun Center to kill some time. After lunch (Cheeseburger for DH, CA Cobb Wrap for me, PB & J for DD1 and hotdog for DD2), we decided to head to the TTC to get out tickets. We are using the Military Salute tickets, so we had to go to the TTC to get them. Well by the time we hop on the monorail back to the resort, DD2 is maxed beyond belief, desperately needing a nap. Finally we get into our room about 3pm, and we got all of our requests. Bell services delivers our bags, and we settle in for a family nap. Our nap only lasted an hour, but it helped revive everyone especially the cranky one! So we headed down to the pool for a while before our PS for Chef Mickeys. After swimming and quick baths/showers for everyone, we head to Chef Mickeys for our 5:30 PS. We had planned to do this the first night since it was right in plus it would give us an idea how the girls would react to characters on the rest of the trip. They had a great time at Chef Mickeys! DD2 had a little hesitation at the very beginning with Donald in the lobby, but once she relaxed, she love all the characters. She even kissed Mickey on his nose! The buffet was pretty decent. I had prime rib, parmesan mashed potatoes, garlic steamed broccoli, penne pasta in Cajun cream sauce with andouille sausage. DH had Mickey ravioli (which DD2 promptly stole!), the penne pasta, the broccoli and an herb roasted chicken. DDs had chicken strips and Mac and Cheese. DD2 also ate several of DHs ravioli! For dessert, DDs ate M&Ms and mini-marshmallows, I had Key Lime Pie and DH had Chocolate Mousse pie. DH then took the girls on a monorail ride while I went back to the room and unpacked and organized. After all of that, we settled down for the night.
