I am on the July4th sailing. Has anyone had any luck booking the glacier explorer this season?
Every time I try the website errors out. I didn’t have any trouble booking other excursions.
I wonder if that excursion is taking place this year?

We were able to book it for our June cruise. People reported it was sold out soon after silvers could book.

Friends of ours are on the July 11th sailing and were booking last night for Gold, they got everything they wanted but the Glacier excursion because the website keeps giving the 'dwarfs' so not, it's not just you :( We are sailing two weeks later, July 25th, and really want that excursion, too.

Booked on our sailing at our window opening but since upgrade cannot access page to update time selection or view if still available- like everyone else, it errors out in app or give the dwarfs on desktop. Wondering same if it is going to be available after all or canceled for the sailing?

My TA called Disney. She tells me that Disney is still working with the vendor to be able to offer this excursion for 2022. It was unclear if the issue was COVID or contract related.

I was advised to watch the site. They hope to have the issue resolved soon.

this makes me feel better as I was up at midnight to take advantage of my gold window opening and was really disappointed notto get it.

out of curiosity what else are people booking in Alaska this summer?

This is odd as the excursion was fully available on our June cruise for platinum and gold and then only sold out after silver. No issues with dwarves or timing out. Of course, the bookings did happen before the big "upgrade".

I’m on the June 27th sailing and was able to get it booked with concierge. The excursion was sold out by the time Platinum was done with their booking window though. Not even Gold was able to get it at their time of booking.

I'm on the June 13th sailing and booked for the Glacier Explorer excursion at Dawes Glacier. We're sailing concierge so they booked it for us, but I know it was sold out for our sailing before silvers could book.

We are on the May 30 Alaska sailing and I've been checking multiple times daily, hoping spots would open up for this excursion. When we first booked, it was saying sold out but lately I also get the dwarves message. It's the port excursion I wanted to do the most. It's unfortunate that you book a once in a lifetime trip without being able to know if it's available or not. I'm not sure why Disney can't book enough ships to meet demand for this experience.

I don't quite understand your last statement. Disney doesn't have anything to do with how often this excursion is offered. It's done twice on Glacier day, 12 noon and 3pm. For the 12 noon excursion, you are picked up and 'leading' the ship into the area. For the 3pm excursion, the Wonder is now the closest to the glacier that it can be and the small boat excursion follows the Wonder out of the channel. It's a very narrow passageway so there is simply not enough room for more than one excursion boat the time, esp if there is a lot of ice in the channel.

Thanks for your explanation, that makes sense. I didn’t realize there wasn’t enough room for more than one excursion boat at a time.

The photo safari for Juneau. I spoke to the company directly but you still have to book through DCL. I’m not a great photographer but I would like to improve, and my son is excited to see the wildlife.

For Ketchikan, I booked the fisherman thing direct.

And I currently have two things booked for Icy Strait Point, the ropes course and a jeep excursion. Still trying to decide if it’s a good idea to do both or not. These are both through DCL.

We’ definitely limited on some of the more adventurous things because my son, although he’s seven, is on the small side and doesn’t meet the weight requirements for the zipline courses, etc.

We booked the crab boat tour direct through the Aleutian Ballard for Ketchikan (my husband really wanted to do this because he loves Deadliest Catch), the Rail and Bus Yukon Excursion through Chilkoot Charters in Skagway, and the helicopter and glacier dogsledding in Juneau. And the Glacier Explorer in Dawes Glacier. I have two boys, 8 & almost 12-years-old.

OK, we are on the first Alaska Cruise on the Wonder, and my wife we able to book it and we are silver. My Mom, on her first cruise ever was able to book this as well.

Keep an eye on the photo safari excursion! My DH and I ended up as the only people booked on the excursion so they cancelled it but we encountered a communication breakdown in that we were not informed it was cancelled. I almost missed my chance to whale watch in Alaska. We ended up on another excursion by the same company and they were lovely.

We’ll see you on the ship! I looked at booking it for my parents and I know it was available for a while after our silver booking window opened.

I was shocked when we got it and even more shocked when we got it for my Mom. I am curious how full the ship will be. I see all of the inside Staterooms are booked but still room left in the other categories. we didn't even have any difficulty getting Palo, but all of the alcohol tastings are booked.

We didn't get a single tasting either and have brunch on day 2 (for most of our group) but we'd like to move it to Glacier day if we can. Dinner is available every night but without the nursery open for my 2 yo we either take turns (we're traveling with my mom and dad as well as my sister and her hubby) or don't go so DH and I have decided not to do dinner this cruise.

We are in 2 connecting insides with a veranda across the hall and currently the verandas on either side of ours are available.

This is for my 48th Birthday (was suppose to be 47th, stupid disease) and my wife talked to her Mom that we were looking into meeting with her sister and family who live in Alaska, her Mom and roommate joined us. After that, I asked my Mom if she wanted to since all 50 states are on her bucket list. Because of that, we are all over the place. We have a Deluxe Inside on Deck 7, her Mom has a Deluxe Inside on Deck 2 and my Mom being a solo traveler is a guaranteed standard room. And I am OK with that. We are going to have a blast, my Mom will enjoy herself with something new, my wife's Mom will compare it to Princess all the time and her roommate got a free cruise out of it.
