Wondering if anyone here has ever used Davids DVC Rental, from this website? I have never done this before, but may want to stay at a deluxe in Nov. and you can buy tickets and dining plan through this site and build your own plan. Anybody tried this? What was it like? Thanks!

2) if you want to stay in a deluxe like the GF, it would be cheaper to book directly with disney.

3) if you want to stay in a villa and are sure of your dates, it would be a good choice.

3a) villas are timeshares - so they tend to book up earlier than hotels (owners might lose their points if they wait too long to book). if you are looking at november only 5 months out, be prepared to accept limitations on what is still available.

4) not sure if you can buy tickets from david, but they'd probably be cheaper if you ordered from undercovertourist or mapleleaftickets.

5) you will probably pay disney directly - not david - for the dining plan (unless the rules have changed). you would need to add it to the reservation in advance by informing david - and you can add the DDP to a DVC points reservation without needing to also add tickets.

just to be clear: i have not used david's service specifically but have rented a DVC reservation directly from an owner - david is a broker who connects DVC owners and renters.

My neighbor used David's DVC rental and was very pleased. He has an excellent contract, using this service (versus renting directly form an owner) limits your risk, he communicated throughly and everything went like clockwork.

You will pay more using his service versus renting directly from an owner, but again there is limited risk renting through him.

I looked at the prices of tickets he is offering; I compared the 5 day base with 1 day free on his link versus the Undercover tourist rate using the mousesavers discount. UT with the mousesavers discount* was cheaper by $6. You will also pay for shipping using David's link whereas it's free when buying form UT.

*Just sign up for the mousesavers.com newletter and the newsletter has the link needed to get the additional discount on UT tickets.

I has purchased tickets from UT twice (once when renting DVC points) and find their service to be excellent and had no problems adding them to my Key to the World card.

Lastly, David would need to indicate that you are pruchasing a dining plan, but you do pay for it at check in. He will also arrange Magical Express if you are using that.

If you know you want to stay in a Disney Villa but don't want to pay what Disney is charging and don't want the risk of renting points directly from an owner, this is the way to go!

To be more accurate, David connects supply with demand, and charges a commission for doing so.

A renter pays around $13 per point to David, and he reimburses the owner at a lower rate, usually $10. Whilst you may not have contact with the owner, you are certainly NOT renting David's points. That's the only way that he can offer "unlimited points" at all the resorts. As it says on his banner - "Point rentals from DVC members". It is the owner of the points, not David, who contacts Disney to make the booking on your behalf.

It's all there on his website, and he is very open and straightforward about how much he charges for acting as intermediary. It all seems very well presented, and his contracts are very clear.

Not sure how Disney feel about this, but I guess they must be prepared to go along with it.

Many owners who rent charge less (sometimes significantly less) than David charges, have contracts as comprehensive and thorough as the contract David provides and offer the same general services (such as arranging dining plans and Magical Express). We also offer personalized service and attention to the needs of the individual looking to rent points. I do not see how the possible risk is minimized using David - David can fail to perform, and the owner whose points David is trying to rent at a profit still control all aspects of the reservations made. That is DVC policy, and using David does not avoid this problem. I think that interested clients should look for owners who have done a good number of rentals, who have gotten good feedback from their renters and who work with their renters to insure a good match. There are a good number of owners out there, and their renters save the unnecessary mark-up of dealing with middlemen like David. Just the thoughts of an owner who rents successfully from time to time.

That is very true, but I believe that owners who choose to use David don't get their full payment until the guest checks in. So, from a renter's standpoint, since he does not release the full amount back to the owner until they have check in to the reservation, there is a bit of a safety not present when dealing direct.

It all comes down to comfort level between a renter and the owner and some may feel dealing with him, because he does this all the time for owners that an extra level of security is there.

well, some owners are charging $10 or even $9, so david charges a 30-40% premium. If you are renting to save money, shouldnt you just go the whole hog? Would you rather pay $1300 or $1000/$900?

Just looking at the posts of some of the previous sellers makes it obvious they they have sold last year, and the year before that and so on. And they are still here.

If you are paying by paypal, the money is going to someone's bank account. They are not untraceable. If you are totally risk averse, buy DVC with cash from disney during the 40% off days. That price is cheaper than paying $13 a point, and you get full service.

However, if you want points instantly, have no time to wait around a couple of weeks in the forums, $13/point might be worth it.

I am an owner, but needed a rental. Rented through David, a one bedroom at SSR at $9 a point. Very satisifed. He is very attentive and answers all emails quickly, provides a contract.

DVC has stated that they will be changing the payment terms for adding the dining plan to a DVC reservation from payment at check-in to payment when adding it to the plan. The member who owns the points will either have to pay ahead of time or request full payment from the non-owner to add the dining plan. And most members don't accept Disney Reward Points if you were planning on paying for the plan with those.
