And I am not sure which Club I should put her in? The 8 & 9 year olds is new since we last cruised so, I guess I'm not sure what to expect. Can anyone fill me in? She is small for her age but very bright.

I would start her in the 8&9 year olds as their activities might be more appropriate for her. If she doesn't seem to 'fit in' you can always move her down one level.

Maybe check out the Navigators on Barb/Tony's and Dave's websites and go over them with her to see which activities she would like the best.

Remember to tell your servers about her birthday and they will bring a cake out that night at dinner.

We had the same concern with our daughter who had just turned 13. When we went registration, the counselor sat with us and went over both programs, she decided to stay with the 10-12 year olds and was fine. Pick whatever program you are most comfortable with and you can always change to the other if needed.

We have the same thing happening. We go on the Magic in 3 weeks and 8/24 is my DD 8th birthday. We will place her in the 8-9 group.

Not only a cake, but your DD(s) should receive a special pin that is only available to people who celebrate a birthday on the cruise.

Even though the group is 7-8, they are in the Club with the younger kids. My son was 7 and 4 mos and he was really bored most of the time in the Club, he would have rather been playing the computer games and listening to music in the Lab. It might be different for a girl-she might like having her picture taken with the characters. You know her best. I know they will want you to pick one-you can't go back and forth.

Hve a great trip!!

My 6 yr old was bored in the club in the evening when there were no scheduled activities. So if she was bored at 6, I think your DD would benefit from the 8-9 yr old program.

Kels, put her in the 8-9s in the Lab, she'll do FINE there. Sarah is too old for the 5-7 activities, I think, and it will be fun for her to do NEW stuff in the Oceaneer Lab. Sammy really enjoyed being in the Lab on our last cruise, and she was just a few months past her 8th birthday. :)

Our daughter had just turned 8 and loved the 8-9 group. Just FYI you can give your child permission to check herself in and out of the club. We thought our daughter would love this responsiblity and since we didn't want her to feel like she had to stay in the club we decided to let her do this. It was fine until one night she checked herself out and went back to a locked empty room. (We were enjoying those great dueling pianos.) Anyhow she handled it fine, and just went back to the club and checked herself back in. From that point on we had her ask the counselors to page us before she left the club so that we could meet her.:D

Thanks everyone :)

I guess I tend to worry some (ok, a lot). She just had a hole repaired in her heart about 3 weeks ago and I have always felt the need to protect her from feeling like there was something she couldn't do. That would be my main concern. If it is mostly 'mind' activities, I know she would do wonderfully. It is the physical activity that worries me. I know, let go Mommy :D

I have already informed DCL of her Birthday and have ordered state room decorations and a gift basket. :) She will be so thrilled.

Now, about letting her check herself out??? I don't think I am ready for that one yet :D I would have to follow her around LOL!!

Thanks again, I am going to start her off in the 8-9 and see how it goes.

No wonder you are so concerned. I hope that your daughter is back to a hundred percent very soon! It would be very hard not to be overprotective in this situation.

take care!
