Dating and Engagements - How long?

DH and I worked together for several years before we went on a date. We dated for 5 months before we got married (eloped) and we're coming up on our 19th anniversary. I regret nothing. We're renewing our vows on our 20th anniversary in 2013.

We met and started dating when we were 18. We got engaged when we were 23 and got married when we were 25 ... so 7 years of dating and engagement before marriage.

We knew each other four months before getting engaged. We got married eight months later. We are celebrating our 13th anniversary next month.

My parents weren't surprised or worried. They got married within five months of meeting each other. They just celebrated their 42nd anniversary.

We met at 16 at a state-wide "nerd camp". Dated long-distance throughout the rest of high school...started talking eventual marriage within the first year.

We deliberately applied to the same colleges because we were SO sick of being long-distance after two years! Waited to get officially engaged until halfway through sophomore year, and married 18 months later at the end of our junior year.

We were 21 and had been together for 5 years by that point, but still got grief for being "too young" from our parents...who themselves had only been 18 and 20 (his parents) & 21 and 24 (my parents) when they got married, LOL!

We will be celebrating 9 years married and 14 together next June.

From my parents meeting to the wedding was six months (not sure where in there they became engaged) they have now been married 57 years. And in case you are wondering - I am the eldest and I was born two years after the wedding.

This afternoon I am going to a co-workers wedding - it was one month from their meeting to the engagement - followed by a two month engagement - they seem well suited for each other. She is 38 (single mother of a five year old) and he is 34 - they want more kids - so they decided not to wait.

DH and I dated for 3 years then got engaged in Feb. Were married in Oct. It will be 12 yrs married this Oct.

We got engaged after 5 months of dating but didn't get married for another year and 8 months. We've been married 19 years.

My daughter who is 24 (and a half, lol!) and her fiance, who is 28, became engaged last weekend. :lovestruc They know one another for 20 months, and plan to marry this time next year. :wizard:
Just booked the reception and date today....:scared1:

I knew on our first date that I was going to marry her. She claims that she did, as well.

We were engaged 18 months after our first date.

We were married a week short of one year after we became engaged.

We'll celebrate our tenth anniversary next month!

I love her more today than ever, and yet I loved her completely from the moment I first met her.

Dated for 1 year 6 months, then got engaged, and were engaged for 1 year 4 months. The only comment I ever got on the length of our engagement was a professor I had the semester we were engaged. We knew we would be waiting until the following summer to get married and on the day we got engaged (it was in the morning), I was as expected very excited and showing off my ring to my classmates and discussing the wedding date, and this professor said, "Well a lot can happen in a year and a half." Thanks, way to be a buzzkill.
