We usually hire a sitter for one night and hubby and I go out. Which restaurant would you guys recommend for date night? We do deluxe dining and we pretty much like all sorts of foods.
Artist Point gets high marks for being very romantic and for consistently good food and service. The menu is varied (cedar plank salmon, buffalo, Penn Cove mussels, et. al.); the wine list is superb, especially if you enjoy Washington and Oregon wines (we do); and the ambience is tough to beat by any onsite restaurant. Ask for a window table even if you have to wait a few extra minutes. Best of all, after dinner, stroll around the grounds of the Wilderness Lodge and watch EWP and Wishes from the beach. You won't be able to see every bit of Wishes but much more than many people realize. The grounds of the Lodge allow for a lovely, hand-in-hand stroll amid flickering lanterns, chirping crickets, and hauntingly majestic music.
California Grill (if open when you go) has topnotch food, service, and views, but it is often quite noisy. Jiko has unique menu offerings (including a marvelous S. African wine list), and it has a nice ambience, as well. However, it lacks the open, airy nature of AP, and unless you're staying at AKL, it takes a little longer to get there from just about anywhere. It's a darker, more serene restaurant if that's your desire. There are other fine restaurants from which to choose, but few others can match the casual elegance and romance of AP, even the two I mentioned.
Good luck and happy date night!
