People just enjoy the game for what it's worth, make your credit runs, make freinds and have fun. Enjoy the surprised and don't get so upset cause someone said you don't give enough away free. I don't give anything away free and well sorry that's the way it is. EDIT: I take that back I do give some stuff away free, but not to those that ask. That would be like handing change to the guy on the corner and they should work for it too.

People need to get over their petty issues or they need to go play in someone else's yard!

I have looked at the database. I started looking at it occasionally mainly to see what was coming. But, as there have been items on there for months that have yet to come out, it lost somewhat that purpose for me. Not to mention that now there is another way for them to hide what's coming.

I now use it only as a way to help organize the items I have and to verify that I have those items.

Ok news is out, dog knows the database is now something alot of people can see and she was saying that is sad and she left my room after that.
So If you cant view database anymore here is why.

LOL, well ...techniquely it is cheating, you can hardly be surprised at the reaction of VMK staff when you tell them you are cheating.

If you want to try to get away with something in VMK or in real life, it's best not to go broadcasting on the Internet.

Looking at the VMK database is no more "cheating" than looking around the wall at the Magic Kingdom to see the work they're doing on the 20,000 Leagues Lagoon. There are no rules against being observant.

There is a rich tradition spanning fifty years of people keeping an eye out for hints of what Disney might be up to, taking note of things casual observers might not have noticed. Why then shouldn't this tradition extend to the online world?

nobody is looking at the DATABASE. You are seeing references to items in the database. When you design a website, you use item_id's which reference graphics or other items. Basically what you are doing is seeing their code which will allow them to add new items to the vmk game. I doubt more then 1% of the people on Dis know SQL or even own SQL+ or a SQL viewer to look at a real database. What people are doing is perfectly legal, and why it is frowned upon is beyond me. To me, they shouldnt make any changes to existing web.config or resource files until they are ready to do a full release of new items. Keep all changes in a test setting, and when its approved from the test team do a full release. If they are trying to load test the new items, then they could always mask new items with meaningless names, and have a lookup table in the DataBase that will link to the proper name.

what is this whole "make the testers mad" thing? They arent your parents, teachers, bosses and they are not going to beat you up. In fact, from my understanding, testers have zero "power" on VMK at all. I am just curious why all the kids are freaking out here.

I second what Lime and Puck said, and a tech, it is publicly available information you are viewing. If they wanted it stopped, they could stop it.

This is the DIS people we do not call each other cheaters nor do we tell them what they can and can not do while playing the game....looking at this code is not cheating any more than using guides or helps....having someone duck for you at pirates or HM or using a hyperlink to get to a certain part of a website.


We do not tell people how to live or how to play all that you need to follow here are the DIS Board Guidelines if you have done that and are treating your fellow board members with respect then all is good.

VMK sets their rules and guidelines if you play and follow them that is all you need to be concerned with, don't worry about the other guy.
