I tried to search for the answer to this but didn't find it. We haven't been to WDW since 2018. Planning for May and I see that DAS has totally changed. Previously I just went to GS, told them we needed one and they loaded it on our profile. Now I see we have to video chat. Does this include children? We have previously gotten a DAS for my son, who has severe Sensory Processing Disorder. During Covid, we have tried his therapy appointments via Telemed and it's practically pointless. He will not engage with his therapist beyond, "I don't know" , regardless of the question. So, if we video chat, will they need to talk to him or will I (his mother) suffice? Thanks!

They only need him on video for a short time so they can take his picture.

You can skip the advanced DAS pre-registration, it's not mandatory. You can still follow the old process once you get to Disney. The advantage of pre-registration is that you can make 2 DAS reservations for each day in advance.

For more details see: WDW Summary of NEW DAS changes and Disney Genie - Post ONE is an updated summary
@bluecruiser wrote just what I was going to.
You can still use the old process and register for DAS at a park. The link bluecruiser posted has a lot of details

I have never done online, we get ours at Guest Relations like we always have. We have AP and normally can only book 3 days park reservations and I often change my mind on park days, so not worth the whole online process.

We did the pre-registration for our son twice for Disneyland. Once in mid-2022 and once in January of this year. They asked why we needed DAS so I explained the reasons. They only needed our son for a quick second to take his photo. He also doesn't like doing video chat or telehealth appointments so I was thankful they didn't need to speak to him or anything (he's minimally verbal anyway.) I just called him over, they snapped his pic, and he was back to what he was doing beforehand.

all he has to do is look at camera for picture toward the end does not have to be part other than picture. just have him playing near by so you call him over
