DAS Day of Selections

We are going to Disney World in a few weeks with a group of 12. Two of the children have DAS passes. One of the children has a disability that can interfere with his ability to get out of the house promptly in the morning. My question is: can you only make DAS day of selections for people that have entered the park.

For example, let's say that I arrive at the park at 9:00 with 6 members of our party, including one of the children with a DAS pass. The other 6 members of our party are taking a bit longer because the second DAS holder is having a hard time that day (let's say they anticipate arriving at 9:20, or so). Could I make a request for a return time for Peter Pan when I arrive at 9:00 for ALL members of our party or could I only do it for the 6 people that have actually tapped into the park? (Obviously this would only come into play for rides with a much delayed return time like Peter Pan or Slinky Dog Dash.)

Thank you in advance for your help!

Agree with Genie+ ^

It's been this way for years even when CM added it to your MDE. If DAS holder or anyone else had not scanned in to the park the system blocks them from getting a return time.

Once DAS holder and myself were in park and could get, but it would not give to DS and friend who were hopping from another park to join us.

Now that we do it ourselves, it works the same. I even tried to see if it would do it when we were park hopping ~ I mean we had scanned our ticket that day ~ nope, got a message about needing to scan into park.

both DAS holders have to be in park to make both return times. in your case could only make for one in park as each DAS has to be first one checking in for their group at return time. with 2 DASs when checking in at ride group 1 DAS holder must check in with that group, then group 2 DAS holder and group checks in. I mention this if your groups have a lot of kids that want to check in with friends. also can be hard if one of holders does not want to lead. also you can only have 1 day of return time at a time for each DAS. so say you make one for Peter Pan when both groups arrive 930 and it is for 1130 you can not make another until you check in Peter Pan

Yeah that’s important to remember as well.

If one group is arriving later and the early group has picked a ride that is still pending, the late group will have to wait until the others’ ride is completed if all 12 plan to pick a selection to ride together. Or the later group could cancel and then both DAS holders pick something for the whole group to ride together.

Also the DAS holders have to ride. Say they don’t enjoy Millenium Falcon, the non-DAS guests cannot use a day of selection to board.

Isn’t there an exit at all rides ? So if u want to enjoy the ques but not go on the ride? Wouldn’t that be a way the family could still do the ride if they pass thru the q?

I did not know both sets of DAS were linked so one group basically controls the other. Kind of sounds counter intuitive … each DAS is for the specialized needs of its holder. So can’t the two DAS just be unlinked, for lack of a better term?

Safe travels OP.. wishing u and ur group a wonderful time filled with happy memory making moments. Enjoy!

There is the exit, but the lightening lane is only valid if the DAS holder rides. CMs may make an exception if they see the DAS intended to ride, but even that is rare. The DAS holder always needs to be at the front of the line, including boarding the ride. If they don’t want to ride then the party will be directed to the regular line.

OP is asking about the whole group riding together. Therefore the first group must wait for the second group to enter the park before a DAS Return Time can be made for all. If willing to ride with just those who arrived yet, group 1 is not required to wait for the rest.

When there are 2+ DAS holders in a party, it can depend how each DAS was set-up. In the OP’s situation, each DAS may only be linked to a specific 5 members of the party, especially if talking about 2 families. In that case, only those individuals linked to each DAS can be selected for a DAS Return Time with that particular DAS-holder. But even when all 10 are linked to each DAS, only 5 can be selected at a time.

Will there be an issue with the number of people? I know there are two people with DAS, but could they have an issue booking 12 people on say PP. Could it be one group get 12:35 and requesting right away, but the other group gets 1:00.

I don't know, just sounds like a lot of clicking involved.

If set-up properly, it should not be excessive “clicking.” MDE will show both DAS-holders and all of the other 10 who are linked. Same-day DAS Return Times are based on the posted standby, which I think is ~5 minute increments. At most the 2 Return Times means get be 5 minutes apart if obtained at the same time. Not 25 unless requested at different times.

If the DAS rider doesn't ride, the rest of the party doesn't ride. Not sure what you mean about enjoying the queues? DAS gets you into the LL queue after the return time is valid. It's usually a 5-10 minute wait from there, so not much of the themed queues is accessed by way of LL/DAS. It's not like going through the standby queue, where there's a lot of theming to keep people occupied.

Totally! I've seen nothing but whatever the ILL/LL of RotR and GotG since I've only ever done those rides using DAS. Do I want to wait in the stand-by queue to checkout the queue? Only if those queues ever get to 30 min or less 😁

If the DAS holder does not ride, then neither can the rest of the party. Using DAS to just to see the queue is only appropriate if the rest of the party also exits the line and does not ride.

When in the park and making a return time, if only one DAS user is scanned into the park the most the App will allow to ride is 6 (the DAS user + 5 guests).
