The only function of DAS is to give a Return Time so that guests who are unable to wait in the regular line are able to wait outside of the lines.
For other things - like avoiding stairs, people with visible issues with doing stairs (like wheelchair, ECV, cane, etc) are automatically routed around them.
Guests with invisible reasons would need to tell their needs to the CM at the entrance and then as you get closer to the stairs.
when I have used a cane I have always been routed around the stairs no DAS needed. in fact I didn't even try for one. and at Toy Story I was sent to the new third track not the handicapped/wheelchair car
