I have fond memories of visiting Disneyland in the rain. It sort of kept the crowds down and we ended up waiting less time in line. I specifically remember going on Pirates something like 4 or 5 times in a row and running from the exit back to the entrance on the wet pavement. I think we were lucky not to get hurt slipping on wet pavement, but these are things you do when you're young and the adults tell the kids to enjoys themselves and meet up later.
They did of course sell cheap ponchos which we bought. I remember the specific day too - the Saturday (I believe the 24th) after Thanksgiving 1984. The boy group New Edition (with Bobby Brown) had a live concert on the stage at Tomorrowland. We got there late and couldn't see anything over the packed standing room crowd 8 deep.
I looked it up, and someone scanned a newspaper clipping of a Disneyland ad advertising those performances from the LA Times.
