Darlene is the best!!

Today in the mail was a beautiful Snow White Princess Ball pin for my daughter (who looks like Snow White and just loves her!) **and** two other pins for my other two children.

Darlene, not only was it so nice of you to make this trade with me, it was especially nice of you to include extra pins for the other children. You are truly the greatest!!

For those of you that don't know, my middle child (the Snow White fan) has been suffering from late-stage Lyme Disease and will have to go back into the hospital soon to have a port-a-cath put in so she can receive IV antibiotics. It has been a tough road for her getting pricked and prodded, but just looking at pretty pins really makes her day. And **this** pin was extra special!!

Thanks again Darlene, you really made a 7-year-old's week!!

I don't know what that is but it doesn't sound like fun. I hope everything turns out okay for your little one.

Buzz...living in CT you should be careful about Lyme as it can be very dangerous. If you ever get bitten by a tick, go on antibiotics immediately and don't wait for any test results. Fortunately, awareness now is better than it was, but back when my daughter was bitten no one knew much about it and we went two years without a diagnosis. That's when it can spread into your brain.

I have to agree, if you find a tick on your body get to a Dr right away.
A good friend of mine who now lives here with me used to live in Wilton. He was bitten on July 5th and diagnosed on July 8th of 1998. He was on oral antibiotics for 4 weeks but they were not working. He was on IV antibiotics for 2 months when the insurance decided that he didn't need them anymore and stopped paying for them. He paid out of pocket for 1 more month over $6,000.
He now has severe arthritis, had to close his business, and claim bancruptcy. It is a terrible disease that Insurance companies refuse to believe can cause the problems that it does.
Luckily now with the newer bills that congress has passed insurance companies have to pay better, but it is too late for him. His memory is shot, he has severly limited movement. Even his desire to go to WDW has diminished.

Yes, it is a horrible disease. It's bad enough when adults get it, but when a little girl gets it, it's just not fair.
