Dark spot corrector

A good exfoliation regimen (not the hard scratchy ones like st. Ives with walnut shells) is your best bet as I was advised by my dermatologist. She was clear that physically abrasive exfoliators would leave you worse off. I have used philosophy products with good luck. My hands down favorite exfoliator is an yves st Laurent gel exfoliator. Can't recall the name off hand, as its very pricy and most of my discoloration has now resolved. Another good line is actually Avon clinical. I used the exfoliator pads for years in conjunction with philosophy oxygen masks and sometimes an estee Lauder serum. I've been neglectful of my skin the last couple years, so they may have changed formulations, but I'm guessing they're still good!

I have aloe vera gel at home so I will start with that for now.

Make sure it's pretty fresh. I don't think the tubes/bottles of pure aloe vera gel have any preservatives in it, so the Vit C may degrade over time. I don't know what the normal shelf life of a tube is. So I buy a new one every 4-5 months.

Just wanted to come back and say that about the time this thread started, I started using an Olay moisturizer with sunscreen:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007M81A6Q/ref=twister_B01F08FV0K?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
(There are two products on that screen, it's the tall bottle and it does come in med/dark too.)

I really think it has helped with my light melisma and this has even been over summer months when it normally gets worse. I've been looking at it in different light and have to say it's not nearly as bad as the day I went to Taco Bell without makeup and DH said I looked like someone splashed coffee on my face. I've always used a moisturizer with sunscreen, so it's not just the fact that it's got sunscreen. I have a bad sunspot on my cheek that it doesn't touch, but the lighter splotches are hard to see now. Just throwing that out there in case it helps anyone else.

I used Ponds on a spot on my hand with some success. It had a pink label, not sure of the exact formula. I also used L'Occitane hand Cream, I got it at Sephora. It worked really well. Their facial products are probably just as good.

I actually started using the Murad and I can tell a difference too. I use the serum and then use the Environmental cleanser and moisturizer.
