Dark Rides YOU Want to Happen?

Yeah, I think that's the problem with Stitch's Alien Encounter ride over in the MK. Many folks have come to see Stitch as the cute, pet-like alien that you see at the end of the movie and in the cartoon series opposed to the less than likable version he was at the start of the original movie. Sigh...I'll just have to settle for the tiny bit of Lilo & Stitch in IaSW.

I can buy everything else on that ride, until you get to that disgusting belch. I don't want a ride that makes me nauseous. It is bad enough if it is motion sickness but that ride is just gross. :crazy2:

I think Up could be the basis a cool dark ride (balloon ride to the falls)

While think DLR should do a 3rd park with a heroes & villains theme (that's where star wars, marvel, etc could be), I'd say a villain based dark ride could be fun. (athough a land with the baddies would be fun)

I love this thread!

I would love a dark ride based on Cinderella (pumpkin coach as car?), Sleeping Beauty (castle walk through doesn't count!) or Frozen. I saw someone mention Princess and the Frog in New Orleans square, and that sounds like an awesome idea too!

I don't think they'd ever do lion king as there's a huge show in animal kingdom for lion king that is pretty cool. I don't remember the LILO ride that much I mlk but Dh and I loved it. I would love a frozen ride and really any of the movies one. Wish they had more fantasy dark rides for kids.

With all the suggestions for individual princess movies here, what about a general princess ride with scenes from different movies (e.g. Cinderella, Frozen, Tangled, Mulan, etc.). Then they'd all get some love!

Aladdin would be cool.

I vote no on anything Stitch though. I just don't see the appeal. I'm honestly shocked at the love he gets. I see so many pins I'd love...if they didn't have Stitch on them, for example.

Here's something off beat for Disneyland. I really want an Captain America dark ride. It would awesome to see Captain America beating the bad guys. There really isn't a Patriotic attraction at DL like American Adventure or Hall of Presidents. Maybe this eventually happens at DL.

Something I forgot to mention in my previous post, I would love to see a ride not themed to any movie or prior Disney property. It would be nice to see something where the appeal is just an incredibly themed ride, like POTC or the HM. I am trying to think of the last ride that fits in that category, probably Expedition Everest at AK.

Mystic Manor and Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong Disneyland.

I would love to see DCA get a version of one or both of those rides.

I don't know if it's a "ride" by definition, but Sum of All Thrills was 3 years after Everest.

But neither of those are dark rides. Dark rides tell a story, and there are only a few that are not based directly on Disney or Pixar. It's a Small world, Maelstrom (Epcot), and Figment (Epcot) are the only one I can think of, maybe Soarin at DCA (and later Epcot) counts too. Even Mr. Toad's was based on Disney's version of Wind in the Willows, even though that is not familiar to most people (similarly Splash Mountain, 20000 leagues at TDS, etc are based on lesser known Disney films).

Cast my vote for a Beauty and the Beast ride!
I imagine beginning with the hustle and bustle of a small, provincial town before traveling through the dark and spooky woods on your way to Beast's castle where Lumiere and Cogsworth are your tour guides through the final stage of the ride. All embellished with Disney magic of course ;)

Definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely Beauty and the Beast.

Even though Aladdin (think Whole New World, Peter Pan dark ride style) and Princess and the Frog (think the Blue Bayou) come to mind too.

I would love a Beauty & the Beast ride too!

I like the idea of a Tron themed ride, but would want one more in the lines of Star Tours, so that we could feel the speed of being on one of those bikes. I think that would be really cool.

I would love just a dark ride into TOONTOWN. kinda like carsland, except we enter a toontown. and we meet the fab 5 and other toons. or even visit the mickey mouse clubhouse from the tv show.

I've been thinking how pretty a Tangled ride could be with the lanterns scene. I haven't thought through the rest, but keep seeing that boat lantern scene... You could incorporate a drop, too, if you wanted (from their snugly duckling escape).

It would almost have to be better than the "Great Bathroom Ride" at WDW! Gorgeous, lovely, beautiful...bathrooms.

OH so much YES. I'm sick of insta-princess and of everything having to be themed to something that's either brand new or ancient.

Maybe it's because I'm not a girly girl. Or maybe it's because I have a son. But I do feel like the parks are way too princess-centric these days. Thankfully, the rides aren't and I hope it stays that way.

How about:

- An American history ride

- Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Johnny Appleseed (and other fables) ride

- Marvel's SHIELD ride (riders are indoctrinated into the organization)

- I like the Micky Mouse Clubhouse ride (omnimover goes through a version of the clubhouse)

- Horizons! :p (it was all about a hopeful future)

My entire family would LOVE this!

I would love to see Disney build "Journey to the Center of the Earth" dark/thrill ride - like the one in Japan. That is a cool ride. :cool2:
