In February we went to the parks early. We didn't dress up, but DS wore a newsboy hat and plaid shorts and got cute "dapper" pictures with Goofy and Mickey. Then we went back to GCH to swim, freshen up. Then we got dressed up. Went over to the parks for a couple hours then had a Napa Rose reservation. It was perfect.
I didn't go all out because I didn't know what the weather would be like and I wanted to feel comfortable to go on rides and enjoy the park. I just wore a polka dot sweater, capris and my Sunday pearls. DS wore a vest, bow tie, skinny jeans, black converse and vintage Mickey ears. His pictures turned out super cute. As a mother of a boy I couldn't ask for anything more.
This trip I am wearing a dress. We aren't totally period. My niece is wearing a skirt her mother is making her that is more modern, but with Mickey and Minnie print fabrics. For us it's the perfect combination of being part of the event and getting to people watch... but still being able to play and have fun. We aren't locals... so it's a park day for us we don't want to loose.
We also committed to having our own Dapper Day every trip we take to Disney... just to pay our respects to Walt and his vision for such a fun family place.
