DAP getting to know you thread!!!

Let's see... a lot of you say you are shy, but I have Social Anxiety Disorder. I just get nervous. But I love people! I love being around people! :grouphug: Talk to me, I'll come around. I'm very approachable.

I'm a military wife. My DH is deployed.

I don't swear much. I only drink a little.

I'm dragging my kids along to DAP b/c we've not been to see the MOUSE since February and b/c there'd be no one here at home to watch them.

Oh, yeah, and I ride a motorcycle! :moped:

Mickey ::MickeyMo, military :darth:, motorcycles :moped: and the kids :earsboy::earsboy: That's my life in a nutshell (Help! Help! I'm in a nutshell!)

I can't wait to meet you all!

First of all, I have a really annoying laugh and I'm pretty loud. I apologize in advance. :thumbsup2 Feel free to mock me!

Second, I cannot hold my liquor and will probably embarrass Paul. It's what I do best! :teeth:

I can't wait for DAP! :cheer2:

Oh yeah, I'm a hugger. :crowded: Prepared yourself! ;)
Wow, almost all of this sounds like me! Well, except for the part about embarrassing Paul.

It's funny (ironic, not ha ha) the things we think of that make us different. Yesterday I was in a class where we had to say the one thing that made you unique and because I was at work and not here, I said "Disneybridein2k3". We then did 4 minute sessions where we had to meet each person and tell that one thing - everyone there thought getting married in Disney was so cool but to you guys, it's just eh. I've really got to think of something else for this group.........

Let's see...

I'm not shy.

I speak English pretty well and know how to say "it's hard to find a good maid...dont you think?" in French. Not that it comes up all that often.

I'm thinner in real life than I appear on the Dis Boards.

I have naturally brown hair.

The phrase "where you at" grates on my nerves.

I believe that if you have described yourself as shy......then you should wear a shirt to DAP that says "SHY....HELP" and Alicia (Cocowum), Stacy (DisneyBridein2K3) and Jen (DVCsince02) and I (DisneyKevin) will rescue you.
Should you attend unlabeled....you're on your own.

If you cant find me at DAP....a) you arent trying....I'm 6'5" and b)look near the corn dogs...I loves me some corn dogs.

And no...the phrase "I loves me some corn dogs" is not more annoying then "where you at".

There....now you know everything.

Oh yeah....I have an addiction to the three little dots things that seperate my random thoughts that are semi connected.

:rolleyes1 I'm not going to DAP...however...

Kevin is a great guy in person.

Kevin...why are you up past 2 am?

:)

So Kevin loves ellipses, but not as much as corndogs.

And getting married at Disney is still way cool. Not "Ehhh."

The phrase "where you at" grates on my nerves.

I really hate it when people end a phrase or sentence with "at". UGH!

Also the use of "guys". For instance, "What can I get you guys? What are you guys doing?" I am not a guy!:headache:

Hey Jen, where you guys be at?!?!? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm not really shy just need the right conversation starter. I'm lousy at small talk unless it's Disney stuff. That topic doesn't work around here for parties and such 'cause people tend to roll their eyes and think I'm touched in the head.

I'm horrible with names. I can't remember seconds after you tell me. It's not like I didn't listen ~ it's just me.

I must really be touched in the head because I can talk Disney all day long. :lmao:

I work with 2 good friends of mine who are in Disney as I'm typing this...anyway we talk Disney ALL day long at work everyone thinks were crazy, but we know better.

I'm also with you on the names. I used to be so good but I can forget a name in a second and like you I was listening it just doesn't stick.

Look forward to meeting you in December even though I won't remember your name. LOL

Do we all need nametags here?? Otherwise it'll be, "hey, you! with the pink shoes! yeh, come and buy me a drink! yeh, you! no, not you-- YOU!" :rotfl2:

Hey Jen, where you guys be at?!?!? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My husband Jamie and I hope to attend the DIS party on December 12. We are both 51 years young and hail from The Buckeye State where, by the way, I fully expect our team to get clobbered tonight. :sad1: Jamie is very outgoing -- never met a stranger. I am not quite as outgoing as he, but I also don't consider myself to be shy. So, based on all the shy responses on this thread, I'm guessing that we will probably be the life of the party. :rotfl2: Since drinking has been a theme on this thread, I'll just say that he can pound 'em down. Me -- not so much.

No major claim to fame here, except my name is Debbie Wroe, which has gotten me a little more attention as of late with the whole Michael Jackson thing. What's even more strange is she and I share the exact same middle name. :confused3

Seriously though, I am really looking forward to this. Walt Disney World is my happy place where I can act as young as I feel. I am really looking forward to spending the evening with all of you like-minded people, even though I don't know a soul on these boards.

I'm ridiculous, I look ridiculous, I act ridiculous, and I don't care.

Oh, and I'm argumentative. And I'm always right.

:wave2:

I've been on the DIS for over 10 years. I know I joined originally sometime in 1998. I was here back "in the old days" when there was just one board and the whole thing used to crash and we would all have to reregister and would lose our post counts. You wouldn't believe how much that upset people.:confused3

Although I've been here "forever," the podcast and podcast board is where I finally found my DIS home. :goodvibes

I taught high school English for eleven years (my good deed for my life) before I joined the corporate world, but I never, ever correct anyone's grammar (although many common mistakes do drive me crazy, i.e., I share Kevin and Jen's pain when people end a sentence with a preposition).:snooty:

D-A-P will be my first "solo" trip to the World, as my DH Phillip loves it as much as me. Only work prevents him from attending. :guilty:

Although it's a solo trip, I'm lucky to be rooming with kab407 (Kathy). She and I have a lot in common and bonded before and during PCC 1.0, so I'm really looking forward to spending the weekend with her.:woohoo:

I'm not shy either, but I'm also not one to be the center of attention. I do like hanging out with those who don't mind being the center of attention though. Fun times! :dance3:

That is so not eh. I think it is great.
