Danskin Women's Event Sun May 16th - EMH switch from MK???

Last year when the Danskin event was held, they switched the EMH from MK to AK for the Sunday (day of the event) and moved the MK EMH to the Monday

This was not well published at all - the only way we found out was a close read of the Park Guide hours information that they give you at check in

Any thoughts on whether this EMH swap will happen again this year?

That would seriously mess up my plans!!! Is the MK a lot more crowded this day? What exactly is the event?

We were at CR last year when this was going on - did not notice a crowd bump or anything like that - just the change in EMH days

I suspect the same will happen this year - does anyone know for sure?

They did the exact same thing during the marathon last year and it really created a problem for our PS and because it was a short visit for us. I was very disappointed. Threehearts

They don't have any changes listed yet for May... As of right now only April 8th has been changed (from MK to MGM).

I would make a back-up plan for the possibility that EMH does get changed!

I did this triathalon in Sept. '02 - and you finish the triathalon with a run THRU the magic kingdom (down main street, around the carousel, to tomorrowland and back out thru the parade exit in frontierland ) ---- Danskin advertises this as a FIRST triathalon - and encourages any woman to give it a go -- therefore there are quite a few "Not-quite-super-speedy" women in this event (I'm including myself in that description! ). I finished somewhere in the middle of the pack - and yet the park had just opened at its regular, non-EMH time as I was finishing my run.

I can't imagine WDW wanting 1000 women running THRU all of the park guests who are trying to maximize their EMH! (Last time I did EMH at the MK (March) - it was almost a stampede
up Main Street at 8:00am). Think of the liability issues....

Soooo - to make a long story short- Make a plan A and a plan B....

Thanks for letting me know. I wish I were in shape enough to give that an attempt.

May 16 is my ds's birthday. We have the Family Magic Tour scheduled for 10 am in the MK and lunch afterwards at the Crystal Palace. I can't really change any of that, and it's not really going to work to head to another park for EE, so I guess we'll get a little more sleep that morning if the EE is changed. I really wanted EE at AK for the next day, though. Oh well...it's not going to ruin my trip.

I just read all the information...I am going to put that race on my list of goals for the next couple of years! I'll bet if I can get in good enough shape, I'll find some family member to support my dream financially.

Thanks for mentioning this. We are arriving on the 15th and our first park day will be the 16th. We have been trying to figure out which day to do MK and which day to do AK, so I guess we'll make two itineraries and see which one works best if EMH changes. I had never heard of this event. I just talked to guest services and they had no record of the EMH changing. They did however, have a record of an EMH change in April (I didn't ask for dates or hours), so I know the CM I talked to knew what he was doing.

I will keep a look out and see if I can get more information later on because it is very possible that this will change.

We have not heard anything yet, but are calling this weekend to adjust our reservation. We will ask again to see if anything has changed. We'll keep you updated.

Just wanted to update those of you who are interested. DH called last weekend to check the status of EMH for Sunday, May 16 at MK. The CM advised that nothing has been changed yet and did not suspect that it would change at this point, but with Disney you never know. So as it stands, EMH is still scheduled for MK for Sun 05/16. DH said he will call 30 days prior to the 16th to check again. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks for posting this information along with all the updates! I had never heard of this event...had no idea it was going on. But DH and I are planning our first day in the parks as Monday the 17th and were planning on going to AK. I will be watching this with interest...if MK is the EMH park on Monday, we will probably adjust our plans and do MGM or EPCOT. Mondays are already crazy at MK plus the possibility of having the EMH. Oy!!

We'll be calling Sunday (4/18) or Monday (4/19) once our entire trip is inside 30 days. Hopefully we'll get an update then.

Just in case not everyone studies the boards every day, or every week, or every month (or several times a day like obsessive-me)....

WDW is experimenting with a new EMH schedule. There is no EMH on Sunday the 16th at MK. Instead Epcot will be open late for resort guests who obtain wrist bands.

The new EMH hours will be from May 9th-22nd.

The official schedule is:
Sun: Epcot open late
Mon: AK open early
Tues: MGM open late
Wed.: Epcot open early, MK open late
Thurs.: AK open late
Fri.: MK open early
Sat.: MGM open early
