Danish butter cookies or Scottish shortbread?

I´m Danish and I don´t like the tin cookies (Most people I know don´t like them). They do not taste like the ones we bake ourselves.

I prefer Walkers, but I have fond memories of the Danish cookies and those are pretty good in a pinch too.

I dunno. Shortbread without real butter is just weird. I've seen some Asian imports trying to replicate Scottish style shortbread, and they often use palm oil.
I had no idea Lorna Doones aren’t made with butter. Pretty sure they were at one time, as they’ve been around for over 100 years. A quick search tells me they changed their recipe a few years ago and were involved in a lawsuit over it.

Girl Scout Cookies have changed over time as well, and with two different bakeries now, who knows? Sadly, the same can be said for many food products I’ve enjoyed in the past whose quality has declined.

Not sure. Sometimes we romanticize what food was like before. Reminds me of Steve Rogers in Captain America: the Winter Soldier talking about how the good old days weren't really so good.

You must miss the good old days.
Well, things aren’t so bad. The food’s a lot better, we used to boil everything. No polio, good. Internet, so helpful.

But there are clearly things that aren't so great unless you seek out something better. Especially meat like chicken, where the modern, industrial farmed bird just lacks flavor because it was bred to grow quickly and have massive amounts of breast meat.

I don't think I've ever had the Walkers. However, my father's aunts used to have the Danish butter cookies in a tin for us every time we visited. (My dad's mother died before I was born so my great aunts were probably the closest I had to a grandmother on that side.) I haven't hadn't seen them in years, but found a tin around Christmas time. I liked them, probably more from nostalgia than anything else. The rest of the family thought they were "just OK."
