Danielle & Chris: 11-11-11 WP/ADH/DP Wedding PJ/TR - Complete *(1 Year Anniversary)

I know Im a little late for the planning part of your journal. But i am okay with that because the one photo I see from your wedding day says it all!

You looked amazing, your husband looked so handsome, and together you both looked like a prince and princess! :)

Congrats! :)

Danielle,

Great photo! You look beautiful! I remember reading a while ago, a debate about using your jewelry with your dress and I just wanted to say that it looks perfect!

Love the honest reviews. Sorry Mens Warehouse was less than stellar. Paul had to rent one from them in May for a friends wedding and it didn't go smoothly. We live in Medford and the wedding was in Danvers, so our friends picked one up that way. I found them very difficult. We only need one tux for Paul for our VR, but think I will try Carolyn Allen's instead of dealing with MW.

Thank you, Bethie sweetie! I'm so happy I chose the jewelry I did--I loved it so much!

OH MAN--Yep, we are on the North Shore, so we initially set up our tux account with the Men's Warehouse in Danvers! They are the ones that are cookoo! I agree, I think Carolyn Allen's is the way to go! :thumbsup2

Aww, thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words!

Traveling & Check-in

We woke up around 4:00 am, an hour before our alarm was supposed to go off, but we got up anyways to make sure we had everything packed. I was getting hungry and sorta anxious (I am a nervous flyer), so Chris went to our 24-hour Walgreens to get us a snack and left me with a little bit of peace and quiet. He returned with a cookie and water for me and a Red Bull and bag of gummy bears for him. I finished packing up my bag and then hopped in the shower. We got dressed and decided to take all of our bags down to the front door and wait for the limo driver.

My suitcase...Praying it's not over 50 lbs.!

The limo pulled up right at 6:00 am, we lugged our bags out to the car and hopped in! It was a pretty awkward trip to the airport. I'm usually not one to talk first thing in the morning, so it was just a quiet ride. The ride took longer than usual because we hit some horrendous rush hour traffic. I just wanted to get there FAST. I was starting to get super nauseous. To the point where I actually thought I was going to yurk. I popped one anti-nausea and one anti-anxiety and sipped on my water, closed my eyes, and did some heavy rhythmic breathing. We finally got to the Boston Logan International Airport and all of those sick feelings subsided. We went inside, checked our luggage (my bag only weighed 37 lbs.!), and headed to our gate.

Waiting at our gate with my wedding dress, a.k.a. The Beast.

We were flying AirTran this trip with a layover in Atlanta. I went up to the boarding kiosk and asked if there would be any place to hang my wedding dress. No dice. So, we boarded and hoped for the best. I had to put my dress in the overhead bin, which I wasn't too happy about. Our flight was uneventful. I am pretty sure we fell asleep (fun fact: I'm one of those people who falls asleep on airplanes with their mouth open and does those head-slipping nods to the point where you startle yourself awake  ). We arrived in Atlanta, grabbed some lunch at Popeye's, took our bathroom breaks, and received a lot of 'congratulations' when people spotted the giant dress bag. We boarded the second flight (again falling asleep) and arrived in Orlando around 3:30 pm. It had already been such a long day, oi! We hopped on the Magical Express, which was practically empty, and made our way to the Grand Floridian! :yay:

First sighting of the Grand from the bus!
DSC05833.jpg

We got off the bus and were immediately greeted by a cast member who led us inside to check-in. As we were walking inside, I heard a 'crack'...the dress hanger broke. :headache: Poor Chris had to hold it during check-in like he was giving someone the Heimlich maneuver. The cast member at check-in was awesome and gave us a marina-view room in building 5, Sago Cay, which turned out to be a perfect location. :wizard: She even turned the computer screen around to show us what the view looked like! She gave us our key cards and we went to find our room.

Our room upon arrival.

We had a dormer room, which added to the magic.

I was dying to get my dress out of the bag and into the closet, praying that wrinkles didn't form on our way down. Chris went to de-stress and take a shower so I was able to fully tackle the dress. The first task was putting it on a new hanger and then I unfolded the train. I was able to put the dress on the far right side and drape the train over the safe that was in the closet. It was a pretty elaborate set up, but it worked! The best part...there were really no wrinkles in my dress. :thumbsup2 I called bell services and had all the guys' tuxes delivered to our room. The cast member showed up about 20 minutes later and headed straight for the closet. :scared1: I literally screamed, "NO" and pushed his arm away from the closet door. :lmao: I told him my dress was in there and that there was no room for the tuxes. He told Chris to turn around, he peeked inside the closet, like he didn't believe me. :confused3 I told him just to put the tuxes on the bed.

This is what a bed of tuxes looks like!
DSC05860.jpg

Chris tried his tux on and everything fit very well. I made some phone calls to alert everyone that we had arrived and then we decided to go and grab a bite to eat at Gasparilla's. Our Disney wedding trip had officially kicked-off! :yay:

To be continued...

Welcome Bags, Wedding Guests, and Downtown Disney

Chris and I were getting a little peckish, so we decided to grab some dinner at Gasparilla's.

Chris cheesin' hardcore outside of Gasparilla's.

Gasparilla's was PACKED. We managed to swipe the last remaining indoor table and wait for our food. I had ordered a chicken sandwich and Chris ordered a ruben hotdog. Mine was a little bland, but not bad. Chris' dog was actually delicious, even though I thought it sounded gross. Overall, they were just pretty standard counter service meals.

After dinner, we walked back to our room and decided to tackle our welcome bags. I had already placed nametags on all the bags before we left, but we still had to put in all the folders and treat bags.

We had 5 bags to deliver to the Grand Floridian, 10 bags at Caribbean Beach and 1 bag at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We decided to deliver all of the Grand Floridian bags and Caribbean Beach bags on this night, because most of the guests were checking in the next day. So, we gathered up the 5 for the GF and walked them down to the concierge. We ran back up to the room, I unpacked a little...adding this little guy to our door:

If you've got it, flaunt it.
DSC05878.jpg

Then we grabbed the 10 welcome bags, hopped on a bus going to Downtown Disney and then transferred to Caribbean Beach. While on the bus, I called our friends who had arrived in Disney a few days before us. They were staying at Caribbean Beach, so I told them to meet us at the lobby. Well, Chris and I ended up getting a little lost (we had never been to Caribbean Beach before), so we got off at the Old Port Royale stop, thinking we could just meet our friends at the central hub. Turns out they were waiting at a bus stop in Jamaica and not even remotely close to Old Port Royale. Chris and I then started walking around the islands of hotel rooms trying to find Jamaica. The funny thing about Caribbean Beach is it is massive and confusing, so we ended up walking the long way around past Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and finally ended up at Jamaica. :sad2: (Not knowing there was a bridge in the middle of the darn lake we could have taken! :headache:) We waited at the Jamaica bus stop with our friends so we could take Caribbean Beach's internal bus route to the Custom House so we could get rid of the welcome bags. We waited 30 minutes for the bus, FINALLY got to the Custom House, dropped off the bags, and decided to go to Downtown Disney for a little bit. (Note: Looking back, I guess I should have done more homework on Caribbean Beach. I definitely would not have included it in our room block, because it is so large and confusing. I can see this being a problem for guests who cannot walk well, either.)

We got to Downtown Disney and just decided to walk around, act goofy and window shop.

We made it to the World of Disney store when the fatigue started to hit me. We had been up about 19 hours at this point, so I was ready to head back. Chris grumbled, but agreed. We said goodbye to our friends and headed back to the Grand Floridian.

To be continued...

I love your little door sign! I stayed in Caribbean Beach when I was 8 but I don't remember it, lol. I would imagine that most of your guests that stayed there were okay since they give you a little map when you check in. Though it probably wouldn't be good for guests who have trouble walking. And I love your welcome bags!

Okay, whenever I see “Gasparilla,” I think of John from COP saying “Sasparilla… I mean root beer. That’s what we’re calling it now.”
-A ruben hot dog? I kinda want one!
-I also have never been to CBR. All I know is it’s… big. Omigosh just reading your description is confusing; you must have been so confused!!! Poor Danielle.

Oh my gosh! You are such a beautiful bride! Cant wait to see and hear more!

Thanks! Yeah, Caribbean Beach was very pretty and I would like to stay there sometime, but I think when I do, I won't plan to go into the parks that much. It seems like one of those resorts you'd just want to hang out and relax at.

The ruben dog is SO yummy! Hahah and I kept re-reading my description to make sure it made sense, but it even confused me. :rotfl:

Thank you so much, sweetie!!!

My sweet Danielle - Just checking in!!! I love the welcome bags and the door sign. You got a great room at the GF!!! I so love that resort!!
