Wish I knew this BEFORE spring break! They stopped renting on Monday, guess they are slotted as one of the stores to close. No others are that convenient to us....bummer:sad2:

netflix is a wonderful thing, you should really look into it! i love it! $11 a month and you can rent up to two movies at a time, as many as you want.

and do you have a redbox near you?? Those are great too, their movies are only $1

If you're not in a hurry to see the latest movies, try your library. I haven't rented a movie or video game in years. I go online every week and search for the new releases and place them on hold. Our library belongs to a pretty large network. Some of the DVD's have come from as far away as Iowa. I select "all libraries" in the search feature and then I place it on hold and request it to be picked up at our local library. I know that your library is not part of the same network as ours is but they may belong to another one. Some times it can take a few weeks but we're not in a hurry so it's really not a big deal for us. Our library has a limit of 10 dvd's and 2 video games out at a time but with 5 of us in the family with library cards, it's not a problem. Some of the movies are good for 3 weeks but the new releases and video games are usually only for 1 week.

It's really nice on the budget!

Our local Blockbuster closed a few weeks ago as well.

We did have BB online, but it got too inconvienent to drive to another part of town to switch out movies-- so we cancelled.

We have Netflix and enjoy it. We were Netflix subscribers years ago (pre streaming and instant que days) and we really like the instant feature now.

Our library charges for movies so that doesn't really work out.

I agree about Netflix, it is very convenient.
Do you have a Redbox in your local grocery store or Walmart? It is much more convenient to us than Blockbuster. You can even return at another Redbox. You can also reserve online.

Wow! I guess Blockbuster is headed for termination. I have Netflix and my sister uses the Redbox. She loves it.

I think this should be a wake up call for everyone who doesn't see this coming. Brick and mortar movie rental stores will be a thing of the past very soon. There are too many other options that are cheaper (for the business as well as the consumer) and more convenient.

Blockbuster was too late to the party for offering online rentals, and is now suffering the consequences. Other options now include Netflix, Redbox, and all the other online/on-demand options. Most new tvs now offer wi-fi connection as well.

Change is occuring, get on board.

As a side note, look at what happened to film cameras. Everything is digital now. If Kodak wasn't involved in the medical field, I believe they would have gone under. As it stands now, kodak was able to buy some time to retool, and now has a more solid business strategy for the near future.

You do realize Kodak invented the digital camera?

If you prefer actual stores like we do, see if you have a Family Video close to you. Ours is great and it's always busy.

We have the mail service from Hades here and I would never chance using something like Netflix. Besides, I hate to wait. ;)

I think the problem with Redbox is the extremely limited selection. Of course, you can use it and Netflix.

well. the thing is DS would rent using his own $$$ a lot, for games or movies. I understand how Netflix works, but to be honest I was not crazy about D just 'clicking" to get what he wants/when he wants on the tv...and it was sort of a social thing to get the firends together , ride up , agree on a movie, be responsible about returning it on time...not saying Netflix is a bad thing, just nothow we wanted a 15 year old to be going about movies or games. However, as it was pointed out, people are expected to get on board. I am all for choices, just bummed the choice we liked has been removed.
