Dancing With the Stars: Fall 2016

We've got a good group for the semi finals.

Yes, I think America's getting it right this season. No shocking exits. Excellent show tonight. I looked at DH about halfway through and said "you know, we get more laughs out of this show than any of the sitcoms we watch".

Even Derek seemed relieved .

Some of the dance selections seemed to really be chosen to test the teams, Calvin and Lindsay waltzing with their huge height difference, Terra being assigned a dance that she freely admits she can't do the steps to due to her size, and Laurie being expected to be sexy (best line of the night: "should I ask my mom about this?" Val: "NO".)

I adore James attitude towards messing up, and thought he actually danced better than Calvin in the paso.

I thought the contemporary was VERY generously scored, since it seemed a bit of a hot mess.

Thought I would pop in here.
SO glad that Marilou went home, even though I really like Derek and think he can be an absolute genius choreographer.

I was really cracking up at that look on poor Laurie's face when they were talking about her having to be 'sexy'. Hahahaha!!!!
But, I don't think she pulled that off in their performance.

I like Terra, and don't see her as disabled in the same way as deafness.
I did NOT want whats-his-name to win last season.
But, the thing is, last night, she was trying too hard to perform, to make up for her shorter extremities, and her facial expressions (acting) were so over the top it almost looked silly, and made me think of high school talent show or something. She should be the next to go.

I wish James would fully and totally focus and up his game. Because I think he could be extraordinary. Really blow everyone else out of the water. The talent and ability is there.

I have not liked Jana, but I think she is coming quite a ways in the dancing and musicality.

Have to love Calvin, but technically, IMHO, he just would not be the winner.

In the end, I think Jana's performance can beat Laurie's gymnastics.
James can beat Calvin, in technical dancing.

I am seeing James and Jana in the end????

I thought it was inappropriate to make her dance that. She's 16. Still a minor. And if she needs to ask her mom if it's okay to do that kind of a dance, then they should have given her a different one. If she was 18, it would be a different situation. Val can push for her, all he wants, for her to embrace her adult female sexuality.

Yes, I get that Chicago is done in some high schools. But, it is for each teen and their parents to decide if they WANT to do that show. Laurie wasn't really given a choice. I think she was pressured by the producers. And yes, there are many teenage girls fully embracing their blossoming sexuality. Laurie is not one of them. There are plenty of other Broadway shows she could have done, like a Disney musical like Mulan.

I don't either. I thought she executed the routine perfectly. That's her Olympic gymnast training. She had every flick of the wrist, every kick, every angled hip superbly executed. But, she didn't feel or even embody sexiness. She was devoid of that feeling. You can see it in her face & eyes. The producers may have tried to get her there, but internally, she didn't go there.

I think Sharna's injury has affected James a lot. Almost as if he just doesn't want to win without her. I know he will still do his best and Jenna is adorable, but to me that lively spark is just missing right now. I hope he finds it again because he is super fun to watch, very entertaining and smooooooooth

She's back, babies! Sharna Burgess is off the Dancing With the Stars sidelines and returning to the dance floor with IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe for the Monday, Nov. 14 show. The two have been rehearsing after a knee injury sidelined Sharna. Professional dancer Jenna Johnsoncompeted with James in her place.

"The last two weeks were really tough, but certainly worth the wait and getting healthy," Sharna told E! News in an exclusive statement. "And now I can officially say I am back! I am feeling great and so excited to be back dancing with James this week! It has been amazing to watch him deliver such great performances these past two weeks, but I am so excited to be back in for the semi-finals and take James to the finale!!"
