Derek looked like he was done. He knows they aren't going to win and he's done. You could tell it from what he said in the clip after their scores from last week.

I say it every season that I think the producers get the overriding decision. Last season, the way they so rigged it with trying to push Ginger on us as being so much better than she actually was, was proof.

Tonight, I was surprised it wasn't Marilu. Especially as SC Minnie said, he looks done with the show & Marilu. He was almost kind of grimacing at the end, even after they were saved. However, I can see now the producers want to get him coming back,next season and beyond, so they will keep him on this season as long as they can, as he gets paid for each episode. (Now watch them get cut next week. )

I think they kept Terra as she is the, err, physically challenged contestant on the show. They don't want to cut her too soon and make it seem like her challenge caused her to get cut. Better let the fish who can swim and has won a lot of medals go first. Plus, Ryan has pretty much redeemed himself, so he got what he needed being on. He can go now.

There are team dances...they have to fly to NY and see a broadway show...which leaves the question when are Jana and Laurie going both have to be in Nashville on Wednesday

I think they kept Terra as she is the, err, physically challenged contestant on the show. They don't want to cut her too soon and make it seem like her challenge caused her to get cut.

It's true she does fill that role for this season. But, she just isn't very likable to me, physical challenge or not.

Derek looked more done with the show than he did last week. He could probably kick himself for not getting Laurie or Jana. As far as choreographing for Terra, I don't see how it would be a problem for him as he's choreographed for others with missing limbs. Granted they were taller but still.......

So glad that James had immunity. Loved his dance! I really hope that he wins.

I was hoping she was more likable in real-life but I don't think she is either. I just can't bring myself to like her (DTWS or Little Women:LA). I think she is better than Marilu though - at least she is not nearly as stiff looking when she dances

What I am really missing is having the Halloween themed team dances this year But then again, nothing can beat last years Nightmare Before Christmas dance.

True. But, I think Marilu also probably said she wouldn't do the show unless Derek was her partner. She would have been better off with Val. he's a real sweetie and they would have gotten along better. A lot of her tension now is due to Derek. (She seems like she's high-strung to begin with. But having a partner who is obviously so frustrated with her and has no chemistry with is making it all the worse for her. She is really not having any fun anymore.

We all wondered what would happen if Derek isn't given a really great dancer. Now we know, his attitude isn't all that great about it. I think part of the problem is that she had Broadway dance training. So he expected her to be better. When he had Amy Purdy and Rikki Lake, he was starting with no expectations. So however he could improve and grow them every week came with no expectations.

Marilu was better her first week than now. I remember someone saying back then that as women get older they aren't as flexible. Flexible is different than stiff. She's just too tense & stiff in her movements now, on top of not being very flexible. That tango tonight was atrocious. She seemed like she was just trying to execute the steps correctly and not feeling it or connecting with her partner. That's how she whacked Derek in the head. She wasn't aware of where he was.

Wow. Poor Amy. It seems like it was caused by such an innocent action: a little hard work. How ironic that an elite athlete such as herself is brought down by rhabdomyolysis. She wasn't my favorite (mostly because of the fawning of the judges) but my thoughts go out to her for a quick recovery.

He's beyond frustrated. He said to Marilu, "You're the queen" when she complained about something. I don't think I've even seen him at odds with a partner before. And Marilu just seems ... clueless. Nice, but clueless.

I am exactly the opposite. I usually don't like the physically challenged dancer of the season because I think it's a gimmick. I despise how the judges go on and on about what "an inspiration" the blind/deaf/legless/war-vet contestant is ... followed by glowing scores. I have felt that the judges were grading the physically challenged dancers on their own scale instead of the same scale as the other dancers. "You're a 10 for someone with no legs!" For some reason I don't think they are doing that with Terra and that is refreshing for me. I can now judge her for her dancing and not on the producer's agenda. I really like her dancing and she brings a good energy to the ballroom.

I really am rooting for James. I had no clue who he was before this but I love him now! He is definitely the most unexpected one in the competition. That being said, I think Laurie will win. She is a good dancer and way more people know who she is.

I'm glad Calvin finally got all 10's. I was a little nervous when I heard Jenna was going to be dancing with James. I wasn't that impressed with her with her last partner, but she did a good job with James. I hope Sharna can come back for the finals. I'd be happy with James, Laurie or Calvin winning but I think it will be between James and Laurie. I wish Marilu went home, she's annoying.

I've never been a big Derek fan and am especially not after this season. I get that Marilu can be annoying, but he needs to quit being so rude to her.

Watching Marilu and Derek actually makes me uncomfortable. He is supposed to be the supportive professional, and I think he would tap out, if he could. He's such a prima donna. Say what you will about the passion/hotheadedness of those Russian boys, but they blow up and then make up with their partners (Glieb I'm looking at you. At least HE admitted that in Russia that's how HE was trained!).

I actually thought Jenna didn't do a good job of not outshining her partner. I know she had the "big" character, but she should have reined it in just a smidge so that James could shine (even more). He's my favorite, and I hope he wins, but am worried if Sharna doesn't come back.

I loved the opening number once again, and hope that Mandy Moore gets lots of award nominations this year for all the great numbers.

I was happy when I heard Derek was coming back. I think he's one of the strongest choreographers on the show and usually does a great job of highlighting his partners strengths. Sadly I'm not liking him with Marilu at all and I agree that he appears frustrated and she doesn't appear to be having much fun. I'm sure there's more to it than Derek not getting a contender though. Dance background and amazing legs aside, he had to know from the start that chances of winning with a 64 yr old partner were slim to none.

"I definitely have a formula in terms of how I teach. There is some strategy in a week-to-week basis with song or routine choices. With Marilu, I try to give her less to think about," Hough told Toronto's 24 Hours in a recent interview. "My normal way to teach is to be very particular and specific about every detail. I like to be very refined but with Marilu, it was too much information. Over-analysis led to paralysis so that's my strategy this season. There's always strategy in a competition."
Clearly he has tried to make adjustments to work with Marilu.

JMHO, but Marilu seems to be a very strong personality who likes to be in control and is not flexible at all (not talking physically here). I'm sure the judges have a better idea of what's happening behind the scenes than we do, and they've advised Marilu to trust Derek and let him lead her through the process several times. Maybe she just can't make herself do that, and backing off and letting her control the partnership is Derek's way of getting through the rest of the season? Hopefully that won't be long since they should be gone next.

Anyway, just trying to say that there's probably plenty of blame to go around for the Derek and Marilu partnership being so bad. Of course some it has to be on Derek since he's the pro, but I don't think Marilu is a poor innocent who just got paired with the wrong partner, even though he was exactly who she wanted.

I loved last night, definitely better than last week! LOVED James, Sharna and Jenna's dance, love that movie and I think they nailed it! Really see him as the winner. Laurie's dance was so cute too. So over Marilu, think she has a bad attitude, hope she is going next week. Sad to see Ryan go but, I think he really recovered on this show. Can't wait for next week, hope Sharna is back next week!

I get tired of both pros and stars who complain about their heavy workload due to other commitments. Derek has mentioned his role in Hairspray several times. Then we get Jenna (and maybe Laurie) having to travel. I want to yell at them that there are plenty of people. They knew what they were getting into when they signed up. After all these years, the time commitment should be well known.

I agree Derek does seem done with this season. Usually the pros hide their true feelings but not with him this season.

I think Laurie is cute but I am tired of the athletes. They have a natural edge over the other contestants just with stamina and flexibility.
