Thanks, that was what I was thinking, but nice to have it affirmed by someone in the know! I haven't done a vegetable garden before, except for some containers on the deck last year. And last year, we did successfully plant flowers from seed which was so gratifying. The kids helped with it so it was really fun as they got to see them grow.
I am trying to decide whether or not to just plant straight in the ground this year (as we'll be starting rather small to test the waters) or to actually go through the trouble of making a raised bed. The only issue with the raised bed would be how big to make it. I'm thinking if we just did in the ground this year, and really like it, next year we'd know how big to make a raised bed based on what we want to do.
The issue is my knee. Kneeling is really hard for me.
I suppose I could always teach the kiddos how to weed, right?
