Dancing Around the dictionary

I am worried about being banned. I do not talk about topics on VMK that are personal but I trade a lot and it is impossible to trade without numbers.

I also see Staff doing it all the time. They dance as much as we do.

My message is if they are going to make it a point to tell us to stay within the VMK guidelines they the Staff needs to set an example.

I also think that there needs to be a review and if something was said in a non harming way. It should be accepted.

"When is the blue dress coming out?" "In too days" that is not going to hurt anyone.

"I am in the sticks group at school" will since it means you are in 6th grade.

Obvious swearing, I won't list it here but I have seen some creative swears. Of couse that should get someone in trouble.

But most of the other stuff is so harmless. If you tell someone you have free Teleporters to trade for a space suit that should not get you in trouble!

I would also like to see VMK allow certian words for room titles. It would be nice if we could send in the room title and get it approved like they do with character names. That would be more work for them but sometimes it is impossible to describe something.

I can't wear a costume I planned once I realized I can not enter the words to describe what it is.

I figured out you can't say "school" on VMK anymore. I guess VMK is trying to be safe *shrugs*

If you are worried about being banned, Lisa, my best advice would be to strictly adhere to VMK Values and House Rules. It is very, very possible to trade without using numbers. Simply ask someone if he would like to trade, and then show what you want to trade instead of saying how much of something.

Sometimes, it needs to be "cut and dry" with the staff telling players something for a number of reasons including lack of time, concerns about current room, etc.

There typically are reviews of different situations. However, rules cannot be bent because an individual player sees something as okay. It is not up to the players to decide what content will be discussed in VMK (although they can share feedback with staff); it is ultimately up to those in charge. Rules are there for specific reasons outlined by the staff while VMK was in beta testing. They should not be broken.

While this can sometimes be frustrating or seemingly harmless, it is still a violation of VMK's rules. Again, there is a reason for not being able to say numbers in the game. While I, too, would like to be able to use numbers during trading situations, this is something that is impossible without giving the opportunity for personal information to be transferred from one player to another. If you are concerned about being banned for doing this, then I would use other methods like the one mentioned above for trading.

I would suggest using the option on the VMK homepage that allows you to suggest words for the dictionary. You can access it by hitting "Contact Us."

All in all, VMK is a free, supervised online game. There must be rules in order to keep it safe and fun for everyone. If you are this upset about how things are running, you might consider sending an email to VMK. It is better to tell them what you are thinking so that they can try to make the game more enjoyable for you. If we all stay quiet (with the exception of posting on the DIS), then they will never known how players truly feel.
