Dance recital gift ideas

My three DD's are much younger, but I am starting albums for them this year for their dance recital gift. I have gone back and printed one photo from each recital that they have had to put in the album and we will add to it in the coming years. Any pretty album or small scrapbook would work. You could also add notes about your favorite moments from her years in dance. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Wow, kids get gifts for stuff like this nowadays?

Back in HS when I was in plays, my dad bought me a small bouquet of flowers on his way home from work, just as a sort of "good luck" and not too many other parents did things like that.

I have done lots of things over the years but last year I did pedicures (after the recital) for my daughter and niece. I gave them a package with a few nail accessories and the gift certificate for the pedicure.

They get flowers at their recital and the very first recital they were in, I had given them charm bracelets, so I will add a charm to it.

Are your kids expecting gifts?

I am giving both dd5 and dd10 at the recital a boquets of flowers and dd5 is getting a special ballerina charm necklace (mine from when I was a kid).

Other than that, nothing... I think the cost involved (classes, costumes, show tickets, shoes, lunch after the recital) is enough.

I agree with PP! Fees, classes, costumes, tickets, and SHOES are enough! My DD will get some flowers for one of the three recitals she has this year.

I agree with the pp's. Between the 6 classes, the shoes, tickets etc... I don't get anything

I agree with everyone -- we pay a small fortune for out 2 dd's to dance... thats enough! We do go out to dinner after the recital.

I have always given DD a little something besides flowers after her recitals and so has everyone else in my family. The immediate family always comes and between us we have given her many ballet related items and other things as well. Nothing huge though, maybe less than $20 for each item.

I've seen some cute dolls attached to flowers at the recitals and I love the idea of the pedicures! I guess I should start thinking of my own DD's gift too...

Flowers and then a trip to our favorite ice cream place for a kiddie cone. My parents always took us out to ice cream after stuff like that, but I never thought to get my daughter a gift.

When I was younger and in dance I always got flowers and balloons the samething I get my dd now for hers. Last year I actually got her a small bouquet of candy/sucker flowers (It was 6 small suckers on long stem clear sucker pipes) and small necklace w/ a ballerina on it. Another thing might be a cute picture frame one w/ the jewels on it or a small photoalbum. Do you have a local dance store they may carry gifts there.

I don't think DD expects a gift but I just like to do something a little special. I actually give her 1 rose for every year she has danced and I've been doing that from the start so this year will be 11 roses. You can only give so many frames, statues, posters, etc. I have done a charm for her bracelet in the past too. I really like the idea of the pedicure and that would be a special thing for her. If we do it together it would make it even more special.
Thanks for the input!
Lucy:)

My DD (15) stopped dance this year. :sad2: But we always got her flowers and then we would go out to dinner afterwards.

My dd gets flowers and a small stuffed animal or small balloon tucked in the bouquet to have while she's onstage during the finale (sing a long).

For her very 1st recital, a bunch of us moms got together and bought each of our daughters a trophy with a ballerina on top. It had her name, date of the recital and "Congratulations on your 1st year of dance". It's 6 years later and she's still dancing. I'm so glad I bought it and it looks great next to her 5year trophy that the Studio gave her during last year's recital! :goodvibes

We always do flowers and balloon bouquets (the dance school sells them for a reasonable price and you pick them up at the recital hall). They also have pretty "wands" available but my dds outgrew them so we stopped getting them. Usually add in a small gift like a photo frame, stuffed animal, etc. After recital(s) we always go out for ice cream.

DD is in her 9th year and she gets flowers from her dad on opening night, I got her a Precious Moments ballerina one year and a Webkinz one year. Most of the girls get flowers, one year a mom sold cookie bouquets and I got a cookie for her in a plastic pot with the recital name and date on it. We do stop for ice cream on dress rehearsal night.
