Dance Dance Revolution?

We don't have PS2 and I really am not thrilled about bringing one into the house. Isn't there any roughly equivalent game that can be played via computer or DVD?

Yes, there are several different kinds. I don't know the names or brands of any of them though. My girls used to have one that plugged right into the audio/video jacks on the tv. Check Target and walmart in the toys.

My kids - DD 10 and DS9, love the DDR they have at their daycare. However, it is for PS2 and we have gamecube at home. We had also been waiting for the Mario version, and the kids finally got it a few weeks ago when it came out. I haven't tried it out, but the kids seem to like it a lot. The songs are different, but they seem to like it as much as the one for PS2.

Does anyone else know more about these? I am really interested in getting one, but I don't want a proper video game system either. It would be way to tempting to start spending more time and money on games if we had a PS2. Any ideas on terms I could search for?

I didnt read all the posts. We have one, and Im totally addicted to it. What a great workout, and the music is good too. My son has a playstation2, and we got the game and mat about 2 weeks ago,and I literally play it each day for about 45 minutes each day.

Bumping up for myself and ReadingBelle. We're both interested in alternatives to the PS2 or Nintendo versions that don't require the game systems. Anyone know brand names or can suggest search terms? Putting DDR into google doesn't do a lot of good..........a few more specifics would help.
Thanks!

I'm 29 and want to get this game! I need the exercise! :teeth:

I just bought DDR Extreme 2 for my niece(12) for her birthday. Her and her sister(18) were dancing all day !! Santa is bringing one to my 10 yo complete tomboy of a dd who put it on her list, right above new skateboarding shoes and a new basketball!

I went to ToysRus.com and just typed Dance in the search engine and it brought up quite a few of them. Most of them had some bad reviews from buyers though. If your girls like Bratz, there were a couple of plug and play ones with them that looked decent. The down side is that most of these only play 5 or 6 songs. I will try a couple more sites and let you know if I see something good. So far, the Bratz rock angelz looks the best.

If you have Frys Electronics in your area try going into their store and find someone in the game area. They are very well versed in what games are available in the different formats, and they usually have the best prices and quality dance pads. My kids are 3 and 5 and love playing DDRMax, there is also a DDR Disney that is a little harder to find but a blast. For younger kids you can reduce the difficulty (how fast/complicated the steps are) and that tends to make it more fun. For the little one we turn off the scoring feature, she just loves to jump around on it.

Eye Toy is another fun way to play games, the kids love Groove, which is another dancing game. It is a fun way to get moving on a Saturday, and has been a huge hit at many birthday parties.
