i have read on these boards about how some of u bring along little gifts to give to your child each day u are in disney. i thought it was a great idea!! :earsboy: so at CVS i found a lion king paddle & ball for $2 and also toy story stickers for $1.79. but i am having trouble figuring out what else to pick up - my son is 10 - does anyone have any suggestions for me? we are leaving in 13 days!!! :cool1: thanks! :flower:

What about a beach towel with his favorite character on it? My local Walmart has some with Disney characters, also in the past I have found some at Target! Also, how about a disposable camera so he can take his own pictures? And, Walmart often has small Disney themed photo albums! My Party City also has disney themed candy! Or, how about a roll of quarters for the arcades?

What about:
glow sticks/necklaces
a water/mister fan
Disney Dollars
M&M tube filled w/quarters for pressed penny machines

thanks guys! :flower: we've been saving quarters and pennies. a beach towel is a great idea! hopefully target will have an inexpensive disney or star wars one! a disposible camera is a possibility too! i havent come across any glow sticks though, does target sell them??

If you have a Dollar Tree store nearby, they have lots of glow sticks, necklaces, etc. Before our April trip they had tubes with 18 glowsticks for a dollar. I know NOTHING about 10-yr-old boys, but my WalMart has a Disney display with inexpensive themed stuff such as Donald and Goofy parachute guys, Mickey rubber band gliders, etc. I also found Disney themed temporary tattoos and flashlights at WalMart.

Just returned from WDW w/ DS8, who loves to receive Tinkerbell gifts every morning. Here are some of the things he loved:

Key chain w/his favorite character. He puts them on his school book bag, which is the popular thing to do around here.

Those little washcloths that TDS sells ... the ones that are compressed really small and open up in the water. Of course, I find a character he likes. These often go on sale at TDS.

I bought a cool Star Wars t-shirt at Wal-Mart before we left ... I think it was about $6. I left it under his pillow and he was thrilled. TDS has some t-shirts on clearance, so maybe you could find something.

A new toothbrush. This time, it was a Star Wars one.

Star Wars figurine (General Grevious) that he was dying for.

Darth Vader lip balm. Hey, what can I say -- Star Wars and Stitch rule in our house.

Those small, squishy fabric water balls. Got them at the dollar store, 2 for $1. He loved playing w/these in the pool.

Since Star Wars is so hot, it's easy to find lots of small Star Wars type stuff.

Disney Dollars. These were a hit!

A coupon for a Mickey Ice Cream Bar or treat of his choice. I printed a few up on the computer and would leave them under the pillow w/a note saying that Tink left money for one in Mom's purse.

Quarters for the game room. I'd made up a computer label reading "Have fun in the Game Room!" and stuck it on the roll.

Right now, our TDS has quite a bit of mdse. on sale -- I'm sure you could find something fun for your DS! Good luck and have a great trip!

At the $10 and under store in DTD, they have these great "mystery" grab bags for $6.95. I am telling you ... the mdse. in ours was so worth it -- a cute gorilla beanie (originally $10) from AK, an invisible ink pen set, a Figment wind-up toy, Mickey Mouse playing cards and lots of other things. I swear, the stuff in the bag totalled over $20 in original pricing! Anyway, you could always pick up a grab bag and maybe you'll find some cool stuff in it to use!

BTW -- you can also pick things up in the parks. I often snuck things that DS had admired and used them as Tinkerbell gifts. I just would tell him that "Tinkerbell must have heard you wishing for it!" I'm sure he's like "yeah, right" but I don't care!

Can't go wrong with Disney Dollars ;)

Do you eBay? If he doesn't already collect the trading pins, you can purchase individual pins or lots from 1 seller to combine S&H and pick up a lanyard at the dollar store. Buy the cheapest you can find, then he can entertain himself by trading with CM's @ parks & hotels. It might even become a hobby for him.

Warning, they are hightly addictive for kids & adults.

I also did the pins for my boys...they loved it. And at the end of a 10 day trip they had tons of pins... (I spent on ebay no more than $3.00 per pin including s/h so I thought that was great).

thanks guys! no, i dont use ebay  but i did get to a disney store over the weekend and i picked up a few small items. i got a lilo & stitch paper airplane, a toy story fan that lights up, a mickey pin (i doubt we will bother with pin trading though because that is his first and only pin :guilty: ) and an incredibles towel that u put in water to make. im going try to find some little star wars items too (hes a big fan) but i only want small inexpensive items so i dont think i will have much luck with that!...by the way, i dont remember the disney store having so few items. when there was one in the mall near me it was big & had lots of items for adults as well as children. the disney store i went to had very few things and nothing at all for adults! :sad2:

Our Disney store here is the same. A selection of stuff for kids, many many MANY stuffed toys, a very limited selection of Disney DVDs (which are usually a lot cheaper at wal mart), and a few other things. There are some adult clothes, but the kids ones are soooo much cuter.

Target has a great $1 themed area at the front of its stores. I'm sure you can find some cool things there. And, check your local Dollar Store.

Also, I think I saw Disney candy at Wal-Mart -- you can see what you can find there.

Even if you leave him a Disney Dollar a day, he'll wind up w/some extra spending money.

Another thing -- if he's into those Livestrong type bracelets, they're selling Disney themed versions at the parks and resorts. I think they're 2 for $3 -- you could give him one a day.

Maybe a pair of swim goggles? Or a snorkle? The Dollar Store usually carries these.

Good luck and keep searching. You'll find the neatest things where you least expect them!

thanks for all the suggestions!! :flower: im going to try to get to good a dollar store & see what they have (we dont have a dollar tree near me). i went to a card store by work today and found disney temporary tattoos for only $3!!! :earsboy:

I don't recall the arcades in the resorts taking quarters. I know the AS's use tokens and the Contemporary uses a prepaid card. Pizza Planet @ Studios also uses tokens.

Additionally, if you are flying, make sure you put the change where it can be easily inspected, i.e. carry-on, not his pockets. Otherwise, you'll be in for special attention. We've been stopped for an offending "metallic" gum wrapper stuffed in a pocket corner-glad we weren't in a hurry.

i also got my son some star wars action figures at walmart for only $5, star wars stickers for $1.50 and a star wars pez dispenser (on sale at CVS for just 77 cents!) :earboy2:

What about:
Character Straw I actually found some at our local supermarket
Jelly Gum Candy (favorite character) also @ supermarket
Flashing Pins (I found @ the party store) really cool!
Stickers

LoveOrlando - what kind of flashing pins? were they disney ones? what party store is it? we have "party city" over here...i found a 2pack of parachute men (one goofy and one donald) at cvs for $3!! :earboy2:

walmart had disney flashing pens.....they were the pooh charactors. got one for each of us. :) 10 more days!!! Mervyns has a dollar section they had disney stuff and I bought a travel case thing of Mickey and Minnie. Had crayons, paper, forgot what else. I had to hide them. LOL
