DAH worth it?

I’m sure there’s threads already touching this subject but...for people who have done an DAH at MK-was it worth the $125 for you? I’ve been seeing videos of a near empty MK with waits not passing 10 min..it seems pretty tempting to me! I have a 4 day park hopper and I was planning on RD MK on my last day, but if I could guarantee an extra 3 hours of a low crowd park I feel like it’d be a much less rush from ride to ride day...thoughts?

Worth is subjective of course. I’d spend some time reading the thread below, specifically, you’ll find links to DISer review posts on page 1. If you read the reviews you start to get a sense of the pros and cons of the event.

I’m sure others have opinions as well.

I also wouldn’t put a ton of stock in videos. The event has gained popularity and the deserted park feeling from prior years isn’t exactly the same now. Waits are still none to minimal (7DMT being an exception) for most rides, there are just more people milling about (based on my own experience and reports on that thread). I still enjoy it though.

When I factor in that we will just have a late lunch and very light dinner, the price doesn’t hurt so much. I would’ve thought twice if I didn’t have the AP discount. Besides, no law says ice cream and popcorn can’t be a meal.

It was worth it for our family of 3—ours started at 10 and we were in at about 620 so we had those extra 3 1/2 hrs to do some more rides and watch the fireworks. We each got two drinks, one ice cream, and one popcorn to help tak the sting out of the $$. The walkways are not deserted—though we only saw maybe 10 other people from 1240-1 while we rode dumbo twice, barnstormer, and little mermaid. We rode the last carousel ride at 1 am with only one other person at that was awesome!!

Went in December as a very last minute addition to our trip because on our Magic Kingdom day it was so crowded I started having like little panic attack symptoms. We didn’t get much done, so I just purchased tickets for the after hours event because of info I read on this forum. It was pricey, and I would pay it again in a heartbeat. We did a bunch of rides, ate ice cream, and drank soda. We even got a cool sword and the stone picture without having to wait and without others in the background. It it is in the budget, try it at least once. Only problem now is DH and DD are spoiled and already have the card out to buy the new Villain take over DAH event.

It was worth it for us, but we used it as our only MK day. Got in about 6:30, used the 3 FP I had made before the park closed at 9, then had 3 more hours. Got everything done that we wanted.

I can see the attendance is picking up and Disney is starting to change the event. There may come a point where we don't think the value is there but we aren't there yet.

DAH at HS was not really worth it IMO. But that's another story.

Absolutely worth it for us too, so much that we have an alarm set to book the one on July 1st when it goes on sale on the 29th. We honesty got more done in 3 hours than we did on two full days at MK. But I also loved that it meant we could really take our time in MK and wander around on those days because we had DAH to knock out all the rides we wanted.

Replace HS with AK and these are my thoughts exactly. We did DAH at MK and AK in February. I found MK worth it (with DVC discount)- the longest lines were for snacks, 7DMT got up to about 20-30 mins at one point but died back down towards the end of the event. The only other wait was for Peter Pan (15 mins). AK on the other hand was NOT worth it IMO.

I did both MK and AK DAH last week for the first time. I found both the be very, very much worth it. AK seemed practically deserted on a sold out night (FOP with a twenty minute wait? Yes please!) and while there were obviously more people at MK (on a non-sell out), everything except Dwarfs and Peter Pan was a walk on. I rode Splash multiple times in my own log and saw Philharmagic with literally only five other people in the theater. Towards the end of the night, the Liberty Square/Frontierland/Adventureland areas were essentially empty. It probably isn't always like that, but I couldn't have been more pleased.

Mind sharing the story? We are going to DAH at Studios on May 1 because we couldn't get Slinky Dog fastpasses until our last trip day and we HATE the heat, so thought this would be a great way to knock out the Studios, at night. We like all the rides that will be open and plan to do them all (ToT, RnRC and SDD multiple times, if possible). We plan to watch the new Animation projection show and then get to it.

I have not been yet, but from the reports, it looks like it will be worth it for us. My only fear is that, by the time we get there in November, the number of tickets sold will have increased substantially.

Hopefully it was an off night but we rode FOP once with about a 20 minute wait right at the beginning of the event and then the wait went up to 90 mins for the remainder of the evening. I don't know if there were technical issues but they definitely were not running at full capacity. All other rides- Everest, Dinosaur, and Navi were walk ons. Others will disagree but for me, there's just not enough at AK to justify the added price of event tickets.

First, I think DAH at MK is worth it. You'll likely not experience that park with those types of crowds much ever again.

Here's how I think of it; you're paying essentially the admission for a day at MK, but condensed into a few hours. However, you then are able to ride essentially any ride you want without wait. The alternative is paying admission to MK for a day but having to deal with crowds and possibly not being able to ride any attraction you want. To me then, I'd rather pay for just a few hours of access knowing I can ride anything without issue. After all, when I go to the parks regularly my goal is to ride the rides. If I'm able to do that in a few hours, then that's a success.
