DAH 4.28.16

I really do want to hear first hand accounts though. I doubt the discount to DVC and AP holders had a huge impact on noticeable crowds, but I know this will be some people's second experience...so curious if they did notice anything.

I was there last night. Would I spend 149 to do it? Absolutely not. I paid 75 and yes, I got what Disney promised. It was not something I'll need to do again.

I will post more later.

I follow a facebook page of someone that was there last night and is where I saw the pics of the park with NO people in sight and the pic of the teacups running with only 1 teacup being used. I would share the name but not sure it is allowed. As limited as Disney wants the tickets to be, could Disney really be wanting to run rides with only 2 or 3 people on it? With the cost of a VIP tour that cost Disney no extra costs, it seems to me that they would want at least a few more people than that. There is a big difference between wait times being under 5 to 10 minutes and rides running for 3 hours with more empty seats than filled seats.

Touring Plans sent someone to the second event and she wrote a blog entry about it. She also reported that the park was very enough and that she was usually the only one on the ride. Unless something changes, I can't see this being profitable enough to continue.

At a Disney Meeting;
To the Imagineer that came up with this DAH-no big bonus for you this year-shame, shame, shame, you didn't increase profits.
Who is next? Soda and Water Imagineer's-are we seeing more profits?

And maybe with this tanking, Iger and his book keeping Igertrons will begin to realize they are pricing beyond what people are willing to pay.

AKK

Hard to find many social media pics of DAH tonight but those I did were of wide open spaces again.

I heard they gave away free tickets to those staying at Hard Rock, lol.
I think that's the point of those pictures - to show how uncrowded it is.

My son and I have season passes to an amusement park, Kings Island, there's been nights, after it rained and majority of crowds are gone, that certain areas are almost empty.. And we've been the only people on a rollercoaster (this has only happened once). It's such a neat experience.. And I definitely took photos of it.

I can't even imagine how awesome that would be at WDW!

Not continuing a limited run event beyond its current schedule doesn't necessarily equate to tanked. If Disney even doesn't continue DAH, either immediately or in the future.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree completely. But we all know these aren't normal circumstances, and it certainly doesn't appear that this event is doing well.

Agreed. I haven't seen any indication, or even a hint anywhere, that they plan to extend this beyond the current dates.

I'm not surprised $75 seems more reasonable. However careful saying anything negative about the event or people will ignore the first hand experience they asked for. ;)

I don't think it's living up to WDW's expectations, but I think that's a bad thing for visitors. Because from a WDW perspective, that means there's absolutely no reason to continue to absorb the cost and staff of extended hours. So if they can't make this work, look for a transition to 10 (maybe 11) pm closings, and the only time the parks are open late will be for nighttime EMHs.

Clearly, as so many have said in regards to this event's attendance, there's no real demand for late hours, so no real reason to stay open late.

I did book this for 5/19 during our upcoming trip. I would not have booked at $149, but once the DVC discount was offered I decided we would do it. I actually think that Disney offered those discounts to determine what guests were willing to pay for this event. Clearly at $149 they were not getting the interest, but if they offered it to everyone at $75 and kept a relatively low maximum attendance, it might make sense.

senadler, thank you for explaining the $75 :).
I think that's too low to keep the crowds down.

We're going in August and at $149 I would never even think to book this event but if they offered it to us at $75 we would jump on it! That is no more than the cost of a dessert party or hard ticket event and we are more than willing to pay that.

I agree with this as well. At $75 the cost seems low enough that the crowds would be higher. I think that Disney would slowly increase how many people they allow in to increase their profit. If they capped the event at 5000 and left it there it would be fine, I just don't see them doing that if they saw any success with a lower price point.

This is what I wonder. With a lower price point the "profit" or "break even" or whatever Disney calls their bottom line would be lower, so it makes sense to increase the allotment. But what would that number be? For me, the lower cost would be the factor that made me worry about the future of EMH in the MK. There are parties during the Fall and Holiday season that reduces the evening EMH can take place. And we know how crowded the parties have become. If Disney offered the MAH events at a reduced cost the number of people who would justify the cost would increase, and while I have no idea what the magic guest number would be, I believe that a lot of people would be willing to pay for reduced lines on attractions that normally are in excess of 60 minutes.

I always say that you should be careful what you wish for, and wishing for a reduced entrance price may provide the opposite consequence of what people really wanted.
