I'm considering a Disneyland trip during and around this year's upcoming D23 expo Sept 9-11. Is this a good idea? Typically, it looks like crowd levels are low during that time of year, which is why we were wanting to go then but will this change things on and around those dates? Curious people's thoughts.

D23 Expo typically doesn't affect park crowds. I would expect that weekend to moderately busy though as it will be weekend 1 or 2 of Halloweentime.

If you want to eat on property (including Downtown Disney) during D23 weekend, I highly recommend making advanced dining reservations. I didn't do that my first year attending the Expo and it was hard to find a place that had availability.

Most people attending the Expo are locals and would not go to the parks on the Expo days. I am not a local and I am usually too tired to go to parks on those days too.
