D23 weekend crowds

We will be at DLR from Aug 11-19th using our deluxe APs that we purchased at the end of August last summer. Our APs are not blocked out at all during the time we will be there, but we were thinking of checking out Knott's one day during our trip. D23, which we are not attending, is on Aug. 14th-16th. Also, we are doing a split stay between the HOJO and GCH - checking in to Hojo on Tuesday Aug. 11th and probably checking out on the Friday or Saturday to switch to GCH (we have the grand booked from the Friday to Wednesday, but might scrap one of the days since it's pretty expensive. We have the Hojo booked all week, so we have some wiggle room.) We want to do Knott's on a day that we're at the Hojo because we'll be paying big $$$ for GCH and will want to make the most of our time there. I'm trying to figure out which day would be best to go to Knott's while avoiding the big crowds at DLR. I'm assuming that the D23 crowds won't affect the parks much during the day, since they'll all be at the convention during the day on the weekend, but will the Thursday before be busy? Should we do Knott's on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? (or will it even make a difference?)

I have been to the last 2 D23 Expos. The expo does not really seem to effect crowd levels at the parks, since most of the attendees are locals. (not us, we come from the east coast to D23).

The week after got crowded, we heard, because the SoCal APs opened back up that week. We arrive the week before the convention, and tour the parks those days to avoid that. So in 2015, those folks would return to the parks August 17, after being blocked from June 26-Aug 16.
