D23 Predictions

My Parks predictions is we will get a solid break down of SW expansion. I mean they are going to have the model so there will be a lot of information. If it is available I'll post photos on Thursday from Sorcerer's package preview. I am not getting my hopes up for the Epcot overhaul but if it is happening with in the next 6-8 years this would be the expo to announce it at. I mean SW was last year with update information and probably open 2019 (around the next expo or 2020 the year after the next one) and Pandora followed a similar track.

I am new to the whole D23 concept -- do they stream any of this stuff, or is that something that these Disney fan-sites will do instead? I would enjoy tuning in to hear some of it and not just get the update later.
Definitely watch out on social media as some accounts tend to live stream some of the panels. I wish they did official live streams! Otherwise, your two best places to watch during the panels; here on DISBoards (rteetz and other posters do a great job at updating the boards) and also on Twitter for to-the-minute information.

Not disputing that...just telling it like it was told to me.

The restraints are too elaborate for what the ride does...that was a complaint...something about weird leg restraints?
I disagree and I've ridden it twice. Yes there is a leg restraint but they want people to keep their legs in for the affects.

1. Not sure why the restraints don't make sense - to hold you and your legs in position to be safe and so you can "feel" the banshee
2. concur
3. Waste of space is probably strong - I enjoyed it well enough ... but it definitely could have been more than what it is rather than 1/2 of the attractions in a new land (I think in the original plans this would have been the third of the three attractions and I think then it would match up to expectations more as it wouldn't of had to have been hyped as much)
4. Seems like they have added some, but I agree it could create some issues. Also seems like bioluminesence has been inconsistent so they probably need to get that all sorted out
5. What was weird about the food? I mean, the bowls are just a protein over a grain or vegetable - basically same concept as at Chipotle. Everything I had was excellent. The merchandise (and windtraders in general) i think was a little underwhelming given all the hype - not sure I'd call it "weird" though

1. I guess the complaint was to "feel" it it makes anyone without skinny legs uncomfortable? I'm sure that's personal preference.
3. It was describe as a one and done...which is not good in AK
4. Heard the same thing exaclty
5. Maybe "weird" wasn't the right word...based on who told me I would think it's more "not interesting to the disney fan type"

Well when I heard they had a "sample" seat out front...I knew immediately that they identified a potential problem...

What's your specs, skip? That matters...

I'm a smaller athletic guy. Yes there will be problems for some larger legged people. The issue has gotten much better and you don't hear about it much anymore.

How did it "get better"? Its either too restrictive or it's not. Maybe it's not.

Grain of salt...my philosophy is that life begins at 6'0"...that's just me.

Height hasn't played a huge role. Short people and 6'7" people have been able to get on no problem.

Oh goodie...that's my range 4'11" to 6'7"

It was described as "tight"...not a height thing to me. Just one account

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I LOVE IllumiNations!
I like IllumiNations, but it is getting old and is in need of replacement IMO. Especially now Siemens have decided not to renew their sponsorship contract with Disney...

That's fair - and I think we saw the same with Skipper's Canteen when it first opened ... though this seems to be fairly popular and most reviews I have seen indicate people like the food (even if a bit out of their comfort zone) ... I am glad Disney is pushing things a little bit to have more variety

I don't think you are in the minority - a lot of WDW LOVE Illuminations ... I know I do. I'd be ok with a refresh (I know the globe hasn't been fully functional in a while) ... but really hope it keeps a similar message and styling - I don't want something that could be a Magic Kingdom there (something full of Disney characters, etc.) ... I like that the parks are all different and all have very different night time shows - so as long as it is unique and "fits" EPCOT I will be ok

I hope they announce something for Epcot. I don't want to just see the scale models of "Star Wars Land" and "Toy Story" for 4 years.

That's actually what I liked about skippers...I don't need strip, salmon, cheesecake, and chicken at 66 different restaurants...

It is not just for the effects. If your legs didn't get restrained you could potential twist them so that your foot was between the motion seats. With each seat turning independently there would be the potential of getting your foot or leg caught between moving pieces of machinery. And that's not a good time for anyone.

Come on...no risk, no reward...

There's a "sample" seat out in front of Expedition Everest as well so that larger guests can see if they can fit on that ride. It doesn't mean there is a "problem". Not every thrill ride can accommodate every body type. Rides with restraint systems have to have an outer limit of what shape of body they can restrain. The cast members working FOP have gotten much better with experience in helping larger guests position themselves properly so that they have a better chance of getting the restraints to lock into place, but obviously not everyone will be able to fit.
