D23 Predictions

Hence they "it's beautiful down there..." swampland that was sold on the eastern seaboard and the upper Midwest door to door in the 1920's...

...a lot of those in the Orange County region were bought by a company called "Retlaw" in 1964
I'm wondering what compass east is doing with all that swampland in central Florida. Something's a brewin

It is totally just a FL thing though because a certain someone pulled this in Toronto and basically built a hotel on promises that hey it got finished but no way was it as easy to book or as profitable as a timeshare as people were sold it to be.

And Toronto wasn't the first either! That particular individual left people and suppliers/contractors out to dry in multiple locales. What's that phrase, cutting off your nose to spite your face? Yeah Americans are real good at that :)

true true.

So to get back on track I don't think DVC will have an announcement. Their booth is all they are slated for and that seems to be focusing on Cooper Creek.

Looks like some people are leaning towards a Tron coaster announcement. For me it is a I'll see it when I believe it situation. I have a sneak peak time on thursday (before media even) so if there are any hints to that on the show floor I'll come back and post in the "official" D23 thread rteetz set up or start my own for weekend updates. There will be a lot of people on twitter as well so just look for #d23expo as well.

Agreed, they're not going to undercut the new offering. Especially as they're still selling Aulani, Polynesian, and now Copper Creek. And yes please update, I really hate clickbaity articles and that's one of the worst I've seen in a while. I'd hate for them to be actually right. Don't get me wrong, I'd love the ride, I just hate that type of "journalism" that's so popular today.

agreed. One reason I stopped my blog was I was working for the company and even giving out leaked information was getting to close to me (super fun when I was in my position to find out who was who and what they were willing to give up for a good fireworks view haha) and two I hated having to be first and even give fake information. Not knocking anyone who kept it up and is still doing it but I prefer to be honest then fake.

Two words for you: Atlantic City

Famously to a room filled with about 1,000 different contractors working on "the 8th wonder of the world":

"Listen..I don't care what you think you're being paid or what your contract says...I'm gonna pay you what I think your work is worth. There's no sense in fighting me, my lawyers are better than yours"

What's your gut tell you about that tron rumor? Seriously?

The skepticism level on this particular "insider" tip is about 98%...

...I'm not sure why they would dump funds into the one park with zero issues at this point...but we'll see.

I'm sure stuff will be bouncing off the walls all week.
Only logic I see is trying to draw people to see something new when Star Wars opens. Especially since a coaster would fit into the teen crowd they're hoping will enjoy Star Wars

well, the other logic is that it is something already built so it is cheaper than designing something new and they want to do something to the land in Tomorrowland - so If they have deemed the need to put something of/near an e-ticket in this space this is a relatively easy fit.

Don't get me wrong...I'd love it. Anything to de-babyfy the place...

E tickets are expensive...I'd take it in any form. family rides can be added in slower times.

My gut personally says MK was touched in the last 10 years so to a demo project and a new coaster seems like it would be last on the list. They will be doing Epcot next over MK additions again. (and a dream that is probably far off fixing the Yeti at DAK).

Considering what they just blew in AK and what they're doing at studios? Yeah...this is the smart play.

I'm not sure you're gonna get anywhere near what people expect from the Epcot stuff either...

The amount of "our sources say..." stuff floating out there right now would probably eclipse the famous "disney decade" speech.

I am not one that is usually in favor of building a ride or a show in a park when it is already in another. I like how each park has something different to attract people to go to that specific park.

The only thing with me is I don't think I will be making it over to any of the international parks any time soon. That is the only reason why I would be in favor of this.

Here is a little something funny to think about as well...I have timed Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 2:23 from start to finish. Start to finish for the Tron Coaster in Shanghai is 1:50. That would put Tron as the shortest E-ticket attraction in the MK if that is the case. I can see it now..."This ride is too short." Especially since that is the main complaint for 7DMT. That is if they basically build the same ride here at the MK as well.

Yeah for Epcot I haven't heard the rumblings that extensive from my usual sources. Sadly everyone I went to either is no longer with the company or is in different areas. With that said with a lot of the resource cutting going on at Epcot that is not the same as what is happening at the other parks I can't imagine them actively pouring money in right now. I can see Ellen's going away and that being the announcement but not much else if I'm being honest. With sponsors leaving I imagine we will not be seeing the completed Spaceship Earth any time soon (and yes it is not completed they put up some panels and black velvet over the old scenes and call it done).

I've never gotten to experience the true Yeti. :(

Mine train is a kiddie coaster with a 2 hour wait...it's barnstormer 2.0.

That actually makes the case for the tron ride: they need more heavily load rides. And a lot of the big draws are not young...splash, space, big thunder all need the ability to have extensive refurbished...with 20 mil in that park the only way to alleviate the strain is with a new draw...they can then work on stitch and buzz lightyear and maybe get a whole new "land" out of it.

I'm a fan of original rides too...I don't like too much cross contamination between Paris, Orlando, and Anaheim...

...but few are going to Chinese parks in that market...and slightly more with Tokyo...if they have to clone...doing it there is not a bad option. Plus as pointed out...disney doesn't pay the full bill for research and development in those parks...saves some pennies.
