I still don't think the DVC guides who we had on our cruise in OCT 2012 should have told us about what we'd be getting for sure if it wasn't confirmed yet...
Also, they made it sound like it was a perk special for being a DVC member, made it sound like something it isn't.

I'm reading it along the same lines. And if offered free to everyone, why pay $65 for the Gold renewal when we can buy the quarterly mags at $15 each? Throwing money at this deal makes less sense then ever before??

I don't think the D23 Magazine is going to be available for retail purchase any longer.

If you want the D23 Magazine, you have to pay for the Gold Membership.

Most DVC perks are available to other groups like AP holders. In the world of Disney DVD/DVC is just another business unit, nothing special.

That's okay, just understand the relationship and don't assume that the DVC perk is the best deal.

I don't think the issue is other people got it too, it's when DVC advertised it as a new perk for members, I expected it to be silver level. Not a limited level that's available to everyone. I let my membership expire, thinking I could get it through DVC for free. I think they setup false expectations.

I agree... It was advertised in a DVC members presentation and was really promoted as a "special" perk. While I understand the business aspect of DVC... DVC members are the most invested of all Disney fans and spend thousands each year enjoying our Disney passion - with or without the perks. However, I'm not going to say I don't enjoy the perks. My favorite being the annual pass discount.

I think I saw they had fixed that? But I also think out of US can't sign up for Gold or Silver so don't know if that applies to free or not. Worth another try.

Bottom line the offer is a complete bust and a joke. It has no value. The cost of advertising this is utter nonsense.
