D23 Membership

Is it worth it? What kinds of things do you get by being a member?

If you're considering it, now is a good time to buy in. See D23's Facebook page (might be other places too) for a 23% discount until tomorrow evening.

To answer your question, though, you get access to special events, which occur mainly in Burbank, DLR and WDW, and a quarterly magazine, if you buy the premium membership.

yeah, that is why I was asking. Since we would most likely not ever be able to take part in the special events, I was wondering if the rest of the benefits were worth it.

I guess it would depend on whether you wanted the magazine, which is pretty nice. Don't know if it alone is worth $80. I think membership entitles you to some discounts. (Specific information is on their website.)

I enjoy my membership and have been able to go to some cool events, but I live in Northern California and I'm from Southern California so I'm able to attend these relatively easily. (Not as easily, though, if were still living in San Diego, of course.)

I love my D23 membership and am a first day member. However, it is really for people willing to commit to the events, IMO, as that is where the real benefits come in. Otherwise, the magazine is great and usually comes with a little gift. If you buy the magazine in the store it would cost you $60.00 for the year and Gold membership is only $75.00 ((edited..it is $80? oh..ok))(before the very cool 23% off) so really..not a big deal to have even if you don't go to any events. They have been doing quite alot around the country this year..Fanniversarys, movie showings, so really..I think it's a fun thing for a Disney fan.
I've been to many big events..both Expos, Destination D Disneyland, Cars Land preview and will be at Destination D 75 Years of Animation, in a month. Really a great club.

nunzia--You're right; base price is $75, but with taxes, fees or whatever, it came to just under $80. (Maybe it's because I live in CA.)
