well... maybe not really. BUT it does seem to cater to higher income folks. There is very little that is complimentary, or even really included with membership. I understand that anything Disney does is going to be in the interest of the almighty dollar, but this particular effort seems thinly veiled.

U agree with Pete's general assessment of Disney's in ability to change financially with the economy. We're in the middle of a tanking economy when this is announced. And again, you want us to prove we are fans by paying $75 a year? Dont get me wrong, it sounds totally worth it, but if you are any kind of Annual Passholder, you should get a whopping discount. If you have a Disney Visa card, BIG discount. If you, in any way, are a known "loyal customer" of Disney, you should get a discount.

They could even have a list of certain Disney fan communities and if you are a member of any of these, you should get even a little discount. Just an idea...

ok, rant over.

I agree that the prices for some of their events are way over the top - like the Disneyland Candlelight Processional dinner and show for $275 that includes a one-day park ticket that you can't exchange, upgrade or give away, or the Disney & Dickens movie and dinner that you could do on your own for less.

But back when they were doing free events, they sold out within moments of becoming available and nobody could get in. There's gotta be a middle ground... :sad2:

Yea, I agree that it the events that are out of control expensive. The membership seems a little pricey, but it works out to just over five dollars a month, and you DO get those magazines, and some random goodies.

I am more thinking about the events. For most folks these events will require travel, and then they cost an arm and a leg. These are great events for folks who have lots of money, but the average american family can't drop 275 per person to attend an event, especially with the notice they have given.

Just wanted to chime in here, but I'm starting to notice D23 is taking away from Annual Passholder events. I wish Disney AP holders had the opportunity to attend these D23 events (or at least some of them). It just seems since D23 came around our APs have lost some of their weight.

It's a beautiful magazine. Even the paper is high quality. But yes, the price is outrageous. They should offer loyal customers a discount in some way. Even a small one would go a long way in showing their appreciation.
