D23 EXPO THREAD - See you in 2019!

Hi there!

So this will be my first D23, and we've been excited since we decided with a group of friends to do it back in November! HOWEVER one of the things I didn't expect back when we were planning...was that I was going to be nearly 6 months pregnant when we got there!! :flower1: This is of course exciting for us but - leaves me with questions heh. I know for instance that there's no way I could wait in line with everyone overnight, and even the thought of being in a line for 3+ hours makes me feel a little queasy...not to mention how important bathrooms have become in my life!!! Does anyone know what kind of accommodation options the Expo may have offered in the past? Like, could I leave my badge with my friends and go back to the room for an hour for a bit of relief?? I hope so because I'm really worried now I will miss out on everything heh.

Also any tips on how to make the most of your Friday if you aren't interested in Legends? I'd really like to go to animation (that and menkin are the only 2 main hall things I really really wanted to do,) but wondered if I'd have time in the morning to grab a fastpass for a morning smaller panel or even just wander the floor before I'd have to be in line.

thanks!!
Rebecca

You might qualify for a medical badge. Not sure what those do as I didn't have a medical badge and it doesn't 100% say they are being offered this year.

Last expo I asked and was allowed to wear my fiance's badge while in line to act as a proxy him. Usually he would enter a line with me but if it got to be too much (anxiety) he would hand me his badge and then could go sit somewhere. He could not leave the show floor though and once we were inside the queue room he couldn't really leave then. For shop queues he was allowed to join back before I went in. Since I had his badge he couldn't do much else but sit in the food court area or walk the exhibitor floor.

@myladyfae You could alway try reaching out to D23 and ask about accommodations. They can either be really responsive or really non-responsive, can't hurt to try.

How much you can accomplish Friday morning really depends on what is counter-programmed to the Legends Ceremony. The Stage Passes traditionally aren't for the first round of panels, you might be able to get one for the early afternoon but you might also run into the need to line up for the Animation panel. You can always monitor the line for Animation and decide if you want to line up or look at the floor.

Since day 2 is sold out, is there any hope to do both Legends and Animation on day 1, and both Live Action and Parks day 2? I'm willing to commit all of those two days to those panels... that is unless a smaller panel pops up that is simply irresistible.

I saw someone on a video last night say that if you were at the "hall" line by a certain time, you were guaranteed to see both panels last year. Was that true? It seemed like it was those who slept over night. I don't want to believe the video, but I am personally only going to try for Parks ad Resorts.

If it is possible, great! I'd love some advice...

If not... help me weigh the pro and cons to going to Live Action vs Parks?

With Legends and animation.... that's easy... Aniamtion all the way!

Live Action...You will most likely see movie stars/directors of upcoming Disney Live Action films, Star Wars, and Marvel. Parks and Resorts will talk about everything coming to all of the Disney parks/resorts around the world (Star Wars Land :D).

I have a feeling Day 2 crowds are going right for Live Action... movie stars, scenes of Disney's upcoming slate that is currently on fire via box office accounts...

No it is not. The rooms are cleared between panels so you have to be in the panel line to get in. If you get into the first one there is no guarentee you'll get into the second.

I would love to see the Live Action panel, but I would only go for the Star Wars and a possible Lion King discussion. I'm thinking of skipping live action, because my hopes are to see Mark Hamill at the Legends Ceremony (even if I think he doesn't quite deserve it yet).

Ok, do you think that this years Parks Presentaion will be geared toward announcements on prepping WDW for MK's 50th?
And will be confirming some of the new rumors going on I DL? Marvel land... tomorrowland, new fantasyland, etc?

That's what I thought. I thought I would just post what I heard someone say yesterday. I highly doubted it, so it's great to have clarification.

Do live action and try to sit at the back or on an aisle if you have any say. Last year a lot of people were able to do both.

Are you trying for Animation after Legends?

There's a chance. It might be the last D23 before Star Wars Land opens as well. I think we might be getting an EPCOT announcement, but that is just me.
