D23 Expo September 9-11, 2022 Superthread **Updates in Posts 2 & 3**

Doubtful Im already imagining one line for the crowd that needs to get into that morning panel, another line to buy merchandise from stores and yet another lines for general showfloor. All outside!! How are they going to enforce no overnight if they dont have staff there since the day before? People show up at midnight sometimes to get in.
Midnight? There was an unofficial line forming on the edge of the ACC property (outside the barriers) mid-afternoon on Wednesday in 2019 - roughly 43-hours before the doors opened on Friday morning and hours before the official line started in the basement. And that's how the old lines were handled: one for panels, another for the show floor/stores. Ah, memories.

I suspect that security will be a huge presence, in conjunction with Anaheim Police, to enforce the no overnight policy. How successful that will be is any ones guess. They are probably hoping that by offering RSP of reservations and VQs for the stores will take out a lot of the "camping" for hours. There will be staff around, both Disney and third-party - loading of the Expo takes a week. They chased off the unofficial line to the ACC property line in 2019, probably will happen again.

I'm personally dreading the mass of humanity trying to get into the ACC on Friday morning.

😆 I didnt know they started Wednesday. But yeah it sounds like its going to be a mess to get in.

What constitutes a 'category'? Is it by stage?
No, there are 4 categories and you'll get to rank 4 choices in each. There is a category for Hall D23, a category for all the other stages (there are 4 of them), a category for talent signings/photos such as celebrities, and a category for show floor experiences such as artists signings and giveaways

Where are y'all seeing the breakdown..?

I have a 3-day ticket for myself but my son was undecided until now and tickets are obviously sold out. I know the primary ticket can't be transferred but is there a way to buy a one-day ticket from someone else at this point? Or are they non-transferrable outside your party?

(Yes, I did try to search the boards for this.)

You can't buy them on the boards. There are some social media sites that are allowing people to sell their tickets. You will have to look for one.

While I understand the idea behind the 4 choices in each of the 4 categories, I wish we could just have 16 choices total and that they could be spread however we like amongst the 4 categories….

Personally I would give up my talent signings/photos and Hall D23 for the other 2 categories…. Actually, I’ld be happy putting all my choices into ‘ all the other stages’ if I could.

As always…. I’ll expect little, enjoy what I can and try and keep the FOMO to a minimum. 😆

In 2019 getting in to the smaller venues without a stage pass wasn’t a huge issue if you showed up like 30-45 minutes before the panel. They had a gold member line and then the regular standby line.

Question: do I have to transfer a pass to someone who is coming with me, i have 2 passes for me and my bf, but obviously since we are going to be there together the whole time I don’t have to transfer anything right?

You do still have to transfer the pass in order for your bf to participate in the reservations process and doubling your chances of getting your picks.

Past D23 Expo's had a Charter Member Lounge. Do you think they'll still have one this time around?

This is my 6th Expo. I dread the loss of the overnight lines. And yes, I used them myself. But to me, the best part for everyone was all those people already thru security and badges scanned in. Now ALL those people will be in a line outside, probably ahead of you. I remember when all the lines were outside, and for a a few Expos it was cool weather, but one year was brutally hot. It took hours to get inside, and I probably arrived those years early, at about 6 am. (they had a separate line then for gold but that was a hot mess too). After that, I said no more and did the overnight lines. Climate controlled (chilly) but dry, safe, and bathrooms available. They were fun too, believe it or not. PLUS inside they could control splitting people into different queues for Hall D23, floor, or a smaller early AM panel. I will be watching Twitter for live info on what is happening, we are a few blocks away at DL Hotel.

My GUESS is that they will still load the Hall D23 queue into the basement, at least for the afternoon ones, there is no where else to load all those people before the panel begins. It takes them at least 45 minutes to load that room. So how can they get 7000 people or whatever, inside the Expo, scanned and thru security, by 10 am? Before, they majority were ready, inside, in the basement, ready to get seated. Now, they will be outside. UGH.

So now what will happen? Friday is ALWAYS a mess, they improve logistics on Sat and Sun. I assume people will be lining up at midnight anyway. I used to go to the Sat am Live Action panels, and to get into those you HAD to arrive by 5:30 am for standby. What I always thought was fair about that was, WE were the people REALLY motivated to see that panel. Now, you will have almost every person attending on Saturday clicking the Lucas/Marvel Saturday panel pre-choice. Because, why not? People will get it that don't really care one way or another. I will do standby for it, just not sure exactly how if it is overnight and outside. (I am healthy but 64 years old lol). I would pick that as my only panel for Saturday if that helped.

PS I used to go to 3 panels a day, on many days. This time, not may appeal to me that don't conflict with the Hall D23 ones. Perhaps that is just me though. I will spend more time on show floor and shopping than in the past. I hope the stores have standby lines too.

PPSS They usually announce the Legends 4-6 months in advance, and this is REALLY WEIRD this time to have none announced.

Yeah I saw alot of people cheering that there is no overnight line when they dont realize that the alternative is way worse. Friday is going to be a hot mess for sure. I think the hardcore people will be lined up Wednesday or Thursday so we should have a status report on whether they will actually be enforcing the no overnight rules. Yeah the panels this year are fewer and not that interesting tbh.Im only interested in the Hall d23 ones. My option for the reservation will just be the one or 2 hall d23 panels for that day plus some shopping.

Do we get sneak peeks at what merch will be available before hand? I'm super interested in seeing the pins ahead of time. I vaguely remember something coming out for the 2019 expo but that feels like a gazillion years ago in the before times.

They usually show some of the merch ahead of time if I’m remembering correctly. But most is revealed when you are in the shops.

Sorcerers used to get a merch list as well as a RSP for select limited edition items. As they have done away with Sorcerers, who knows what will happen this expo. But even without Sorcerer shopping perks, I would've expected them to post news updates touting some merch already, especially the clothing and pins.
